I made it home for a few hours today, I've gotta leave in the AM to do a round out to Dayton, OH and back to uniontown PA, then I'll call it a week tomorrow night.

    SAR and MJ1657 Thank this.

Maybe so, I got NAILED last year on taxes, so it seems like spend it or pay the IRS...

Who knows mate. I have the dealer doing some measuring for me to make sure I can get a generator on it, as well as the 3 door headache rack.
This old gal is going to want some money this year I think, so it's either get a loan and go through this one, or just trade up.
Wife found an older model Western Star that is still brand new, will be Ca compliant, has a Detroit 515, 13 speed, and so on, for @$50k less than a 2014 model! Will have full factory warranty if I buy it, as it never got put into service.
Nice not having a payment, but the IRS will just take it all otherwise!

    Teaser....

    I vote rebuild.

All the toys you want and freshen up everything, cheaper then new payment.

With the exhaust above the frame, you can slide the fuel tank forward a few more inches also, which will clear some room for the generator. Love the blue :)

It's a tough call for sure.
If I went through this one, it would also get a tranny rebuild, and I want more power for the loads I haul now. I thought on getting a pre-emission 500 Detroit and converting this over, but would take a boat load of time, plus cost for the engine, wiring harness, etc.
Then there is the logic of how much do you put into a 2006 Freightliner Columbia? It is never going to be wroth anything anyways, so dumping a load of money into it is false economy really IMHO.
Dunno yet, still pondering it over.

    Biased by chance mate?:biggrin_2559:
Looks like the tanks can move forwards on both sides. The boxes only have 2 batteries in each one of them, so there should be tons of storage in those for stuff in my current boxes.
If I can get my little generator on one side, and a small step box on the other, it will work with the enclosed headache rack I think.
Truck is going to be under $100k BTW, with full factory warranty, but without the need for DEF. It does have a DPF filter, but I know a guy..... That will also leave me this truck to sell, for whatever its worth.

You hit the nail on the head.... a Columbia will not go up in price, just not a desirable truck to someone in 10 years. I'd say you go get a new truck (prefferably a glider) or maybe an old school truck that's been fully rebuilt.
