I don't think it's right to discriminate. Just was wondering if you pushed your views on your uppers. With the 11 years of driving truck that you have, it doesn't make sense that your sitting unless you pissed somebody off. Hope things get better for you.

I don't push my views on anyone. The owners/superiors/ etc have never talked about them. I don't bring them up because there are better things to talk about and knowing that mine are a lot different than most in this industry, I leave it alone

Back on topic, I spoke with Jim Pittman today, head of the TC fleet. He took the time to hear my concerns and we spoke at length about what was going on when it comes to miles. He seemed interested in what I had to say and also did me one better by giving me layover pay. I thanked him and they gave me a great load over the weekend.

Backing comes with time. I wasn't comfortable backing until about a year in. You'll get to the point where you're comfortable. It just takes time and practice. In no time you'll be whipping that thing around like nobody's business! It's all about setting the back up, and tuning the distractions out. Don't worry about if other "drivers" are laughing or whatever. Your ship. You're the captain. Backing is the toughest part to nail down when it comes to skills. It's illogical. Your whole life you would turn the way you wanted. Now, you got to turn the opposite. I have faith in ya!

Thank you. I don't have a bad taste in my mouth about this industry as some do. Trucking has provided me a very good life. Cars, homes, etc. and I still enjoy it. It's a noble profession. And remember, truckers really do keep the country moving. There's a lot of truth to that statement. There are things that could change (ie; stop letting the government's henchmen make decisions for what they don't understand) and sometimes trucking does attract undesirables, but what other profession allows you to see this awesome country we live in? How often does an Irish Italian east coast kid get to see Montana or Oregon or have biscuits and gravy with a guy who obviously is more comfortable in the 1800's? If you're new to trucking, take it all in. There is some great stuff to see and take part in. No matter the problems, its still an awesome way to make a living.

It's the most fun I've ever had at any job, that I've had at any point in my life. Hands down. And it will be. There is nothing like it. I hope you can work things out there Joseph, at least you're doing everything you can to remedy the situation.

As far as backing for the other two posters, the easiest way for me to remember was whatever direction the trailer was going, I had to turn the steering wheel that direction to straighten out. Hope that helps a little.

I agree with you that it is a noble profession, it's not for the average joe! There are undesirable in every profession, I worked for over twenty years in Law Enforcement and we had our fair share of losers!

Man that sucks, I figured if anything that would be a major benefit. Respect for sticking it out and trying to get the situation rectified. Most guys would quit and complain. I'll be following this thread with interest.

Really? Isn't this like the 4th user name you've had this week? Apparently driving for DHT sucks. You have lots of time to create new profiles and think about Gordon! Get a life already!
