When I was a Schneider Bulk Trainee, I remember being at a customer in Waukesha, Wi. It was dark, I had my Hard Hat on and I was on top of the tank walking the catwalk checking the washout caps. Bammm my head hits something...Power Line...that could have been tragic in oh so many ways.
You tanker yankers always be alert of your surroundings, Be safe and have fun.

Lady_Truck, I am not trying to make any assumptions but I just have to warn you before you go try the tank division. Since the 1st of this year, they have instituted a new pre-work screen for tanker drivers at Schneider.
You now have to be able to lift 60 lbs in a milk crate from a table to your waist and then from your waist up to your eyes. And, you have to do it 3 times. This is not an easy thing to do and I failed twice the past two weeks and was sent home immediately. (This work screen is held within the first hour and a half that you are there) Also, they have a formula, based on your age, that allows you to only reach a certain heart rate while doing any of the pre-work screen activities. This, and the lift test, is what knocks out most prospective drivers.
They have not had a trainee come out of Gary, Indiana (which is where I went) in over 3 weeks because all of them are failing the pre-work screen. If you are a van driver for Schneider, you can try to get through the pre-work screen and if you fail, you can go back to your van position, no questions asked.
Personally, I think it is a silly test because I worked tank for Schneider 3 years ago and never had any problems with the weight of the hoses but this is how they roll now. The trainer at Gary told me they are 180 drivers short in the tank division right now and I'm not surprised. They lost an experienced candidate in me because I couldn't lift that 60 lb crate 3 times even though working with the hoses and dead lifting a milk crate are two totally different animals. C'est la vie.Twicebit Thanks this. -
I am sorry it didnt work out for you.Twicebit Thanks this. -
I know this may be a stupid question but what does "behind on drivers" mean? Still trying to learn the lingo.

Thanks, ethos. I'm sorry it didn't work out, too, as I enjoyed working for Schneider a few years back and I never had any issue with the weight of the hoses. Left because there wasn't enough miles at the time due to the economy. I was in for a nice raise and the bonus but it wasn't meant to be. I will just wait until they do away with the lift test, which is what they will have to do to get any drivers for the tank division.
Even with the $7500 bonus they can't find anybody. Once that goes away, Schneider is going to get their lunch eaten out there by these other tank companies if they are sitting 100 plus drivers short. Got a few leads on other tanker companies since they all seem to be shorthanded these days.
