I hear ya. And I'm listening...That being said,THIS is how you debate and we progress. By respecting each others views,it's very interesting to me how two human beings can think so differently but that's how we exist in the same universe is compromise. This wasn't always my M.O. I was raised in a very prejudice environment, I'm from the South...need I say more? I love so many things about the South but many things are just decades behind the times. Times are and always will change,we hang on to older ways,and grab new ones and we are a world that is forever evolving,that is a fact.

All Im saying is that it's so funny how we as humans profile someone and they end up being just the opposite. And to profile someone bc of their love interest or race,or religion is just not worth your time.
I just feel that if we get to know that person that we "fear" they just might prove to be someone you just might like. I remember buying a new home once,years ago and a couple moved in next door and the guy had a "foomonchoo" mustache,with tattoos all over him. I remember thinking," oh boy,this is just great!" And I gotta tell you he was the sweetest,smartest and friendliest guy you'd ever want to meet! I never forgot that " presumption" and never ever did that again. I just wait and see how they act,behave,and or treat me ...So bottom line is..although its in all of us,you have to work at it to be tolerant of others. You just might miss an Opportunity to make a good friend.And Lord knows in these hard times,we could all use a good friend once in awhile...

 

The South is no more racist then any other place. There is no place in the South that has a city organized stop and frisk policy like progressive New York City. Perception is not always reality. The north has just as many racists as any where else. Jackson Mississippi just elected a radical black mayor. Is that racist? You can say the South is historically racist but I ask for anybody to find me a quote from a leading northern politician at the time of the Civil War telling blacks to please flee north and live and prosper in economic and social equality. I can find many quotes and opinion pieces from then saying the exact opposite. And is physical slavery so much more reprehensible than economic slavery? Economic slavery existed in the north for almost a hundred extra years.

 

People like to lay claim to falsities that even the most casual glance at unabridged history could correct. It is a very poor person who swallows whole the dogma has that been filtered through the canon of social acceptance.
History itself is nothing more than an agreed to set of lies. The autobiography of a madman.

 

Lol..perception is almost never reality...that's really the point. I'd take a Northern politician ( Bauchman being the exception,but shes leaving now anyway) lol over most Southern any day of the week,but that's another subject,thread... ( And remember,I was born and raised here and stay up on current events) .Physical verses economical slavery isnt under same heading as "judging and tolerating" others views,preferences in modern times.
Thank God for that..shew. We've come along way no doubt and thankful for it,but unfortunately we still have a long journey before we get to the point where we can all live under one sky without fighting. Whether its you and me or different countries. Almost every war has religion wrapped up in the nucleus of the whole fight. Someone's God is better than the rest. Most of us who believe ,think we are right,unfortunately they are just as passionate,and also the non believers just wonder what everybody is fighting about.

So cutting back to original...we still shouldn't mock or spew hate on individuals that differ from us,get to know someone of that very thing you fear before you judge... Diversity is a reality. If you think about it,how does ones "preference" effect the other one spewing the hate? It really doesn't,it's just like you said,they think its a really kool "band wagon" way of talking on a c.b. where cowards hide.
Ive never seen someone go into a T/S and use a racial slur,but they will on that c.b...They become 10' and bulletin proof behind that mike. Again..tolerance is really the way to go. And I intend to keep trying to do the right thing. I'm far from,perfect but I don't spew hate. Now I may tell someone a thing or two when provoked but it's created by their behavior not bc of who they are.

 

War is a racket, economics not religion drive wars. Also, I believe war is a humans natural state, peace is the stranger.

 

Ok, I've read the whole thread, and have read this particular entry 3 times. I've pictured myself trying to do this and no matter how I play it out in my head (the big one, not the little one), I can't figure out how to make it work. It's not the opening on the fuel tank, it's the distance from where I would stand to where it would have to go in, I mean come on, my Johnson isn't 36 inches, not even close.
