BAYTOWN, TX (KTRK) -- A shooting in Baytown sent one person in the hospital early this morning.
It happened outside the Motel 8 along the East Freeway at Thompson. Baytown police say a truck driver in his 40s was shot.
The victim was shot two times in the abdomen and taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. His condition is unknown.
Detectives are still trying to figure out where the shooting took place. They believe the victim was near a truck stop when he was shot and then sought help inside the motel. Authorities say robbery appears to be the motive.

pro gun or not pro gun everybody should have the right to decide whether they want to carry a firearm for their own personal protection we have to stand up as brothers as Truckers as family and the demand the right to be able to carry in our trucks of course with background checks in criminal record checks I don't see why stable minded hard working public servants such as ourselves should not have the right to protect ourselves jmo
Pound Puppy, Rugerfan, grizzly and 4 others Thank this. -
This is specifically why I carry a firearm on my person.

Watch the news, read a paper. There are many times legal firearm owners have defended themselves. Go to the FBI or ATF page, the have stats on it. Plymouth, Ohio four months ago a high sex offender broke into a home armed with a hunting knife and revolver. The home owner took him down with a .50 cal desert eagle. He had four kids and his wife at home.

I assume they are talking about the super eight motel. It is actually a nice clean motel. It has good reviews on trip advisor. I have stayed in it several times before. Baytown is a crap hole. If it was up to me we would kick it out of Texas. We don't want it.

.50 cal?? a little over the top if ya ask me. -
i for one know I'd make a move while dumb### was trying to reload if I were in the position like whats gone on in Sandy Hook,Aurora,Wi..on and on.Somehow sir dumb### ends up with an assault rifle with enough ammo and doesn't need to reload,so no one had the time to react. But no one wanted to take away anyone's guns. My dad was a sharp shooter, and had plenty but he was a responsible gun owner..And bc he was so good at it,no assault rifle needed.
