Weight allowance

  1. Hi all, First things first, I created this account for my dad who is a career specialized heavy hauler but I will be using it also. I am 20 and have my intrastate class a, Im starting run local in ky with a 2004 dodge 3500 and 40 foot gooseneck also I own a 1986 kw w9 that is a look alike to my dads 85 model kw. Both have been stretched by kw of Evansville to 308" wheelbase tanks moved to weight distribute and tag axles added and floater front rubber.

My question is for my dually, My truck has a gvwr of 11000lb, trailer gvwr is 30,000lb and trailer weighs apprx 6700lbs. How much weight can I haul with the setup?

First off you can not haul more than you tires are rated for.

  4. OK maybe I should've included that, my trailer has 3 10k axles with duals each tire has a load rating of 3090 lbs per tire which adds up to 37,080 lbs. the trucks tires are rated at 3250 per tire adding up to 19,500lbs.

You also have to know what your truck weighs empty too. You can not figure that you can load 41,000 minus what your trailer weighs. Your dually should have what weight you can pull. I know my SUV does and I wouldn't go over that. If it doesn't then I would weigh the set up with tanks full and me in to get a good empty weight. Find out if that unit has a max weigh for a CMV. Again you can not go over the tire rating so I would take your dually and check all four tires the front too because some weigh will shift there and the tires on the trailer. If you have some big super tires on anything you can not exceed what the state will allow or the federal if you're going out and on the interstates. I wouldn't try to get up to the weight like you pull with your Class 8. The type of setup will just not last if it even pulls it.

You won't get anywhere near 56580 gross. You may pull it in a straight line but you'll burn up on the first grade you pull.

  7. Not planning on a 56000lb haul with the dually, it usually pulls bobcats, backhoes, small trackhoes and upto a small d4 dozer, equipment of that sort. I was just curious as this was a discussion brought up at a friends farm.
