I see some of these transporters out in front of high end car dealers, when I mentioned it to the dealer why they didn't have any names or numbers, they said "Well, they don't want people to know what they are hauling." I asked them, "then how do you know they are legal carriers?" They couldn't answer the question.....

At Clear Lake IA, I saw one winter, Iowa DOT had a dually nailed from Florida I think, with one of the longest 3 axle cargo carriers. He had no markings, and I am sure they were wondering why he was just driving around.

I was in the Flying J at Davenport when a dually pulled in with a really long trailer and no signs. We got to talking. He used to pull campers and now used the cargo trailer. No signs, no commercial insurance, no authority. Just a guy driving down the road. Had been doing it for about a year and no problems with anyone.

He had private, not for hire on the doors.

I really wish they would get caught.

Badge #115, better check your tickets. I may have bagged you...lol. I used to write tickets to drivers out of compliance. As a DOT, I used to get paid to listen to driver sob stories. I do not like crybaby truckers and I never will. I run legal. As mentioned, I like to get paid to visit my family across the country. I dont need much, just enough to cover my expenses.

Well that's funny, you are assuming I'm some company driver who has no clue about the laws or what's what.

I know a bunch of state carrier/commercial enforcement officers and not one of them ever ever called themselves "a dot" nor would they be here posting like that.

Provide some details so we all know what's what. Badge numbers are meaningless unless there is a jurisdiction behind the number.

A job is just a job, that's it. You proclaim to know how all DOT's in the country think. another know it all trucker giving the industry a bad name.

Don't twist my words around, it seems typical when people are confronted about their comments.

Also don't know much compared to others, but I do know how to ask which is why I know somethings like people don't call themselves "a dot" without backing the claim up seems to be dubious at best.

For whatever reason, I believe in freedom. If a man wants to buy a toyhauler and see the country, I don't have any issues with that. I used to tell them, "get out of here, we are busy". So now that I am traveling across the country and visiting my family, my fellow truckers want to gripe? How pathetic.

I guess the main question is quite simple.

You have claimed you care nothing about the rates as long as you see your family.

As an ex DOT man, are you a legal hauler with the regulations and insurance or not?
