A quick check in. I have been "pushing squares" for a couple days now. The first week was driver orientation (much like at central) then I got to sit in the dispatch supervisors office and watch him work for 4 days on Thursday I was about ready to slit my wrists. I occasionally get to go out on the floor and observe other DMs and am amazed by how little they know. Finally on Friday I was given my desk, but still not doing any work when my boss got called away. I was there, my computer was there, so I dispatched. Had all my 35 drivers planned for the weekend in 2 hours and was sitting twiddling my thumbs when my boss came back. He was surprised, but I still got to go sit and stare at the back of his head for 3 more hours until 5 when my time was up.

Trying to keep a positive attitude, but the saying the worst day on the truck is better than the best day in the office is ringing true in my ears. And to think I took a $40k pay cut to take this job. I may be calling Central by the end of the summer.

Thanks for checking in Moose. I feel for you, but a man does what he has to do for his family. I hope your wife appreciates it.

I hope that your extreme sacrifice in wage only lasts a shorttime and that your move to TM is more profitable. I'll pray for you and your family.

Look on the bright side moose, everyone knows you're a bad@ss dispatcher now. You just need to go into work like 2 hours every other day now, right?

@ CRSWVC now, waiting on a load in the morning headed to TX, which just so happens to allow me to burn up the miles home for Father's day. Will be nice to see my Grandpa. Looking like I am going to hit the 3300 mark this week, which I am more than thrilled about. Actually, I'm pretty #### happy about that. If I can just do that for another six weeks, Disneyland in July with my nephew and sister will be quite the visit!

40k pay cut from central. i wanna work at central.

weatherbug is better then radar now. you know where it's snowing. radar simply tells you it's raining or snowing. you can't distinguish.

3g doesn't use any less internet then 4g. but i'll say this. verizon is robbing us on the useage. i can have a fresh 6gigs to use. download 100 megs and i'm at my peak usage. and by the end of the billing cycle. i will have 1/2 gig overage.

i only use 1/2 gig every month. so for 100 meg file to peak out my 6 gig allowance is ridiculous.

sprint has unlimited. i'm going to start using my old phone as a hot spot. but they're in a dillemma right now. since they dropped there wimax and started switching to LTE. you won't have any 4g unless you happen to be in one of the few select cities that have it now. sprint started it first a full year ahead of everyone else. now they are 2 years BEHIND everyone else.

You know after almost a year, your problems aren't that bad anymore. People test your patience and want you to make impossible runs. You either make em or find a way to get the needed wiggle room. I got sent to two truck washes that were closed. One last night and one this morning. A year ago (maybe 6-7 weeks ago, lol) I'd have an ulcer by now. But either I can't make it because three hours got wasted on my 70, and I am screwed out of at least half of that fuel. Or, there's a 12 hr window and my dispatcher can help me out on the wasted driving. Or there's a solution somewhere in the middle. Either way, I just keep my clock pegged out and I'm generally happy come Thursday morning. 1 1/2 weeks til my first vacation! Going to take the kiddos to see some caves and hopefully get into catching a few trout. Hope everybody's ready for the heat, it's comin fast!

Yeah I made over $60k last year and my YTD on my last settlement was $48k. The new job pays a whopping $32k and apparently that is high, because I was told not to tell anyone because they would be jealous. Apparently DM's start around $25k and after working 5-8 years may make $30k. I am going to run some loads next weekend, so hopefully that will ease my driving cravings.

Driver to dm conversions should get paid more. All the best dm's used to be drivers.

i think ice train was talking specifically about Netflix. Netflix sets bitrate based on connection speed, so lowering your speed will lower the bitrate, lowering your overall use. I've argued many times that turning off 4g won't save data, but Netflix is the exception.
