"In regards to HOS: according to one of the ladies in safety at the company i contract to- you can't be involved with anything to do with the truck while on that half hour break I.e. fueling, involved with the loading/unloading, pretrip, postrip, etc."

I said I do not have enough time to stop for 30 minutes, then afterwards fuel up which will be a total of 45 minutes to an hour of additional time before my arrival.

I think the intended benefit is supposed to be that a driver gets home on the weekend, or, a couple of days off somewhere during the week. We will all truly be limited to 70 hrs in 8 days now. I intend to run on recap one week and reset the next.

You are not required to take a 34 hour reset. If u do u can only do one a week. Also that reset requires 2 2am-5am periods.

The 34 hour reset will be harder to abuse, but someone who doesn't want to take one can still run on recap. As far as the break I have always taken one anyway. I'm not sure that forcing the break for everyone is the right move, but we'll see how it all shakes out.

The Govt gets the public advocacy groups like PATT off their ### with the lawsuits stopping and some Govt employees look like they actually did something productive.

One way of solving all these HOS issues is to get rid of them all, and leave it to the individual truck driver to determine when he or she is tired, hungry, hurting, etc.. They are grown adults. They know their own bodies quite well. The only concern is that the truck drivers do NOT drive fatigued or half asleep at the wheel.

see that is the problem laws start with us
there are drivers that aren't smart enough to stop when tired
so the rest of us suffer
