You are doomed to fail because you have failed to plan for failure.
Let that sink in real deep and the reflect on it some more to understand it.
Then consider the fact that you should never get you truck from the same place you get loads and you should never get loads from the same place you get your truck
When you understand both those concepts, combine them and then ask your CPA how they fit into your business plan.

Your response is exactly what I expected.
It tells me you were simply looking for validation that what you want to do is the right thing. And when people told you what you didn't want to hear, you got upset. -
And I might document my journey here, I think it would be constructive, win or lose. So long as the mods help me keep out the people who are telling me I'm too stupid to pull it off. I don't plan on getting rich, hell I don't even plan to buy the truck out really (not required under the lease and there is no forced re-sign). I plan on breaking just above even. You say the risk is doomed to failure, I say; Without risk, there is no gain. -
OK,I have a question, what if you can get your loads from the carrier you leased from/to or from virtually any other load board? Is that still doomed to failure?

Another thing, if you plan on just breaking even why even bother? Why not just be a company driver? The point of risk is potential reward which there is very little of in leasing. -

Equipment is leased from and run under the same companies authority.

Authority lease, I got no issues with. I am leased to a carrier right now and was prior to this place, leased to Farm2Fleet. One does reefer, the other does not. I pull a reefer and Farm2Fleet didn't want to keep me around with a reefer. Find a place to call home and enjoy life.
EQUIPMENT lease is where the wrench gets thrown into the whole works and becomes the issue.
CR England, Swift, Prime and a couple others when I started to press them for miles/percentage, pay etc, they got really guarded on me when I asked hard questions. Namely, How am I going to be able to ensure that I will have the minimum revenue I need to guarantee that I will be able to make all my fixed costs and still have a home life.
The couldn't and wouldn't guarantee anything. Just that if I take time off, the payment would still be due in full regardless of making money or not.
Pressed hard enough, they started to getting me to realize that they would manage my miles and revenue just enough to hang myself in their operation. "Beholden to the company store" if you will. And keep me from being truly successful as a businessman.
Mind you, if I wanted to be gone 4-6 or more weeks, they'd be more responsive to making sure I was successful. Successful to me also means I have the home time I want and not what someone else feels I have earned at their whim.
Couple that with a $600 to $750 PER WEEK equipment payment, recipe for DISASTER.
I looked elsewhere to make my dream happen.
Don't get your loads from where you get your truck and don't get your truck where you get your loads. They will NOT have you best interest in mind. -
risinger bros transfer.... 2year lease on a 05 columbia...400 per week. .11cpm maintenance no out of pocket for repairs ever.. unless u did the problem of course... i recommend them
