Btw. I think $ 1.48/mile is quite a bit higher than what Schneider pays on the mileage plan . Furthermore, a driver should factor in some out of route miles because I think Schneider still pays hhg miles.
Of course someone on the choice plan might average higher than pay by mile plan. -
And don't assume you are gonna average high mpg. I see people using 7-8 mpg for their computations. I would figure 6.5 mpg or less. And a new truck will need def.
When I do computations, I am conservative. I don't assume great fuel mileage and no downtime.
I have known people with new trucks that got bad fuel mileage. If the egr system is not just right, you can lose fuel mileage.
Put down some realistic numbers and see what will be leftover after expenses.
There are cheaper ways to get a truck than leasing.
I currently drive a 1.1 million mile truck. It is dependable. I bought it new.
I think some people should consider buying used trucks. -
I figure 48 weeks out of 52 for income...and I figure 2000 paid miles for those weeks, with 2400-2500 driven miles, 6.3 mpg....hopefully all of those will be exceeded, but like some said, I want to be conservative in what I base my expected income and expenses on. So, if there are surprises, they'll be good ones....my biggest concern would be the 6.3 I'm counting on.
big wheels Thanks this. -
If you don't average 6.3 in a truck that is newer then 2005 then you have serious problems. In this pos Mack I drive with 897k on it I average 6. And this thing is way under powered.

I just don't see how it can be done but maybe I'm wrong

Schneider must run you like crazy.
I have a $261 / week payment and I am only bringing home a little over $1000 / week net. I don't get any taxes or SSI taken out as yet, but I've only been doing this for 5 weeks. Perhaps I should...the taxes might kill me in January...big wheels Thanks this. -
The second quarter will be up this month . Let us know how you're doing . http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Small-Businesses-&-Self-Employed/Self-Employed-Individuals-Tax-Centerandre Thanks this. -
OK....lets be a little more conservative.......
Lets use rough estimates.....
monthly revenue.................13K-17K (2500 weekly).....lets use......... 16000 (mileage or percentage.....w/fsc)
truck............................................. ......750 week.......................... -2817 (truck payment) ($650/week)
fuel.............................................. .............................................. -7100 (6 mpg )
fuel tax............................................... ........................................ -50
FHUT.............................................. ............................................ -50
License, permits........................................... ................................ -175
Physical Dam............................................... ................................ -450
Bobtail........................................... ............................................. -55
Work comp.............................................. .................................... -225
Maint escrow............................................ ................................... -650 (this is an escrow account for maint)
Monthly net bring home before taxes................................................ 4428
Weekly net bring home before taxes......4328 X 12 / 52 ..................... 1021
Changed the numbers a bit but still with a BIG truck payment and still bringing home over a grand......OK.....
maybe not every week....sometimes more .....sometimes less.......but still room to make a decent living.... -
So $1020 at let's say you only do 70 hours but you will probably do more with paper work and organising $14.50 ish a hour sounds pretty average to me especially with all the extra risk
