I could care less about "who you know".
The only people that do use them as a rule, are flease operators from big companies, and if they could manage money themselves, they wouldn't be in a flease deal as they would actually have a credit score wouldn't they?
I wont bother saying what first popped in my mind, seeing as you are so new and thus fairly ignorant. I make good enough money for sure, and no I am not "that broke".
Do you honestly believe everything a website tells you? Bookwork is an integral part of running a business, and if you are incapable of doing it, you should just turn the truck in and be a company mule again. Mind, company drivers and flease operators for the likes of the company I can guess you are talking about, are very little distance apart. Wonder why a lot of those guys either fail, or go elsewhere as soon as they can?
Letting someone (well, the big carriers all but make a flease operator) handle ALL your book keeping is retarded. How the heck do you know your break even point? CPM for fuel? Insurance? And so on.
I also know guys that have used the ripoff merchants, and every single one paid more taxes than I did, when my truck was paid for and theirs wasn't, and we grossed about the same amount. Yeah, what value for money that is....Idiots.
This is an owner operator forum, so maybe learn a little more about either becoming one, or just to be smarter in general, before you post such drivel in a public arena.

I didn't, but I have Google, and can type "truckershelper" into a search box....:biggrin_2559:
    http://truckershelper.com/

I have used their software for @10yrs now, never had a problem with it.
Mind, you need to know how to do a little adding and subtracting and how to use a computer for stuff other than internet porn and chrome shopping, so may not be for everyone (see my previous post).:biggrin_25525:

So what your saying is I'm ignorant because I don't have thousands laying around with an A plus credit score so I'm ignorant? Hey have you ever heard people wanting to get the feel for being a o/I so they lease? ####### use your brain. Only an "ignorant" person would go buy a truck because he or she has a good credit score and then find out its not what they want. Maybe you should think before you speak. Not everyone is out here to be rich. Some people just want the experience of a trucking career. Your no better than anyone else either so don't act like it.

I think you're on the right track if you really want to learn about being an owner/operator. I drove for three and a half years as a company driver just learning the driving business to see if trucking was even what I wanted to do. I left that $.34/mi job and came over to JCT to start learning the o/o business. It has been the best decision that I've made in trucking. Yes, I think that I'm underpaid and I don't have the flexibility of a "real" owner/operator, but I also enjoy having practically no risk and average pretax net of about $.42/mi. Should I decide to leave trucking, I can walk away from the lease. If I stay, I will have a $1 buyout at the end of the lease period. I can't speak for other lease situations, but if you want to drive a brand new truck with no money down and a reasonable payment there aren't many other options.

Yeah ... forget managing your business ... just get in the truck, get a load and roll ... let someone else tell you if you're doing it right ... better yet pay them $50 a month to tell you six weeks after you did it.

    Jeff,
I know what you're sayin and can agree with it.....Some of the people on here are long time O/O and forget what it is like to start out.....I am willing to make a grand a week and put up with it for 3 years till the truck is paid and then have some equity to roll over and have a smaller payment....rinse and repeat until I have NO payment......like they did !
A grand a week and everything else is paid is good for me, a single guy with no debt willing to take a shot at it.....can't be all bad.....there are a zillion O/O out there doing it !!
