You make good points but say the job requires 9 hours and they have been working 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. without a break . If the job really requires 9 hours actual work the company should change work hours to 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to compensate for the break . If they can get the same amount of work done while stopping 30 minutes they've been doing some serious slacking .

That works if you're not running 14 hour days. I have no idea if he is or not. Personally, my 14 is my worst enemy most days. Now you only have 13.5 work hours in that 14 if you're planning on driving at any point later in the day. For hourly guys that's a pay cut.

Yes he and other drivers at the company do get paid by the hour.He works 12 hour days, local. They were paid from the time they punched in till out.Now instead of getting 12 hours pay he gets 11 1/2...He does not shut down for so called breaks. Our company will probably do the same thing. It doesnt help out with the 14 hour limit either

I don't know the ratio of the "good" versus the "bad"..."Skilled" or "unskilled"....But if this is any indication of our future....

The other day I stopped to fuel at the Wheat Ridge T/A....This driver tugging a van came up to another driver and showed him his scale ticket.....This driver had 40K on his trailer tandems and wanted to know how to "Fix" it.....WTF?.....That driver was older than me.....Where's the experience and commonsense again?

Who trained or actually, not trained, that driver and then, turned him loose on the ribbon?

A "hole" in one's head....Any "benefit" to that?......That's the same question IMHO in regards to asking about the "benefits" of the new HOS rules......

I am wondering if Walmart will pay their drivers for the mandatory 30 min break. Heck, Walmart pays them for their 10 hr break.:yes2557:
