Just finished school. My company hires me, provides me with zero training and expects me to drive like a pro. Well 3rd day working I had many LTL's i was given paperwork for a shipper and when I came I had to circle an entire building filled with parked cars and trucks. Right before I got to the dock i over looked a step and my trailer hit a parked pick up truck. His tail light was gone and minor paint damage. I thought of my self as a pretty good NEW driver but the kind of pressure i was given was not fair. I'm wondering, does hitting a parked vehicle on private property go on your record, and if so, how serious are the charges for this type of incident?

Preventable. But it is the first. Depends upon the company. Some will can you no questions asked, others will be a bit more forgiving.
Sending a rookie out with zero training is absolutely unforgivable, but you're pretty much stuck there for a few years until this accident falls off your record (DAC report). If it gets bad, there are some "bottom feeder" outfits that may take you on and toss you out with a trainer for a few weeks. But bear in mind you now have a black mark on your record, and will be competing against drivers with clean records and possibly more experience.
When backing, slow down, turn the radio/cb/cellphone/gps OFF. You don't need the distractions. Put your head on a swivel. And if you think you may have a slight notion that you are not absolutely sure of what's going on behind you STOP!!! Get out and look! Patience and looking will save you every time. Trust me on this.Puppage, hardworkinman, BlueSparrow and 5 others Thank this. -
honestly. I'm more disappointed in my company than myself. I know now after only a week of actual driving how stupid and preventable the incident could have been but it is my company's fault 100% for throwing me in the fire like that. I already feel more confident after such a short time but its really ###### it must go on my record.

If you felt like you were not ready to drive with out further training how can you blame that on the company? If they tell you to drive for 18 hours to get to your delivery will you?

Ok my advice ,slow down when you are in an area you not familiar with and especially if there are a lot of cars in narrow parking lots, when i was in those type situations i took it slow and was scanning both mirrors and cranking my neck in all directions to see where i was going and where i had been,i wasn't meaning to bust your balls, i have had a minor bump my self.
I had a delivery where i had to park on the street and be close enough to a curb so their forklift would be able to unload, and i couldn't block their driveway,i asked the lift driver to watch as i backed up along the curb because there was a car parked there, yep he watched me back right into the car, minor paint scrape and i felt like s*#t and now i wont trust any one but my self.NavigatorWife, Jrdude5, BlueSparrow and 2 others Thank this. -
again, being a new driver I dont know what im getting myself into. It was private property and no real damage was done. I do consider myself a safe driver overall and love driving but 1st day on the job, i was thrown in fire and given mayor routes. really feel ###### about it all and hate the sour start to my new career -
Did you talk to the person car you hit first of all and did you reported to your job
