Dadof3, I was reading your Carry transit thread. Where did you end up after you quit?

After a 6 month deal at Schneider, I came back to ADM. When I tried to come back from Carry, ADM's doctor said he thought I might have sleep apnea, so I had to get that taken care of first. SNI paid for everything, including a not needed "cadillac" of a CPAP/APAP machine. I had 2 sleep studies done, both of which said I did not have sleep apnea, but they said I was getting a machine anyway because "I had it bad." Guess that'll teach me to leave a job for union vs moral principles again. lol At the end of the day, even with all the many short comings, I don't think you can beat this place.

Yeah this whole sleep apnea thing is getting ridiculous. My student has a 3 month medical card because.he is a big guy and the doctor said he probably has sleep apnea. There is no way he has it. He doesn't even snore, at all. I haven't heard him gasp one time at all.

I am worried that one day I will be falsely accused of having sleep apnea and be forced to use a machine.

If you don't have sleep apnea then why the machine?

So they can monitor how much you sleep.

My wife just got me a fitness product called fitbit for fathers day.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitbit

It's a cool product that monitors how many steps you take and the intensity of your exercise. It also monitors the quality of your sleep if you wear it when sleeping. As soon as I started playing with it I realized that eventually some company will use something like this to track driver sleep patterns. They probably could actually build it into a sleeper.

My wife works for Blue Cross Blue Shield. She is on her second one provided by the company. The company uses them in its wellness program. They don't actually have access to her data.

My thinking is its beta testing for insurance companies. What if your company came to you and said if you wear one of these 24/7 and meet certain baseline exercise goals your insurance will cost you $50 per week less?

Some day the HOS rule might read "Must have 4 hours of deep REM sleep measured by such and such qualified device before driving the truck".

Base pay is around 33 cents per mile (depends on location) for inexperienced drivers, I don't know if it is higher for experienced van drivers. There is a $7500 sign on bonus so now is a great time to switch. All tanker training is being consolidated to Coraopolis, PA and Houston, TX. You will do a mix of yard + classroom + on the road with a trainer. They take training very seriously so make sure this is what you want to do. My training class started with 14, by the afternoon of the first day only 10 remained. Over the next week another 4 washed out. Of the 6 that finished training only 5 got into a truck and 2 of those 5 didn't make it past 30 days solo. And that is not unusual. With that being said I'm glad I went with sni tanker, It's been a great experience so far.

The ads on Sirius Radio say the sign on bonus is ending in June.

I wouldn't know. Student I have now is going to get it. I have been at it pretty hard here lately, loads are plentiful and I hope that continues. Will be taking a much needed break for the holidays after 5 straight Weeks on the road, my choice.

Tell you one thing, my foot is killing me again. I don't think it's gout but man it knocks me out. They wouldn't let me in a plant because I was limping so badly the other week. Said I was a safety hazard. I have to get to the doctor and get this solved. I don't know what is causing this, I wake up and it hurts.
