Hey JB, this is a GREAT thread! I like the way you describe your days, your job routine and all. One question, for those who like to stay on the road for 2 to 3 moths at a time and take between 4 to 6 days off, is that possible in this company? And one other thing, the new changes to HOS... how is that going to affect your working hrs, reset, recap, miles and all?

Oh yeah, 3 other questions, what is their personal conveyance policy? And how much is the detention pay? Is there a limit to the hrs they pay?

Thanks, glad you are enjoying my little world. I wouldn't think that would be an issue. I know a few drivers that do that exact thing. Bottom line, we now have 13.5 hours to drive our 11. All in the name of safety. The way we run most of us do work off our recap. My reset now needs 2 periods of 1am-5am
and we can only have one reset every 168 hours. Just a note. The day any new HOS comes into effect that cuts into my earnings will be the end of my steering wheel holding career.

45 minutes per 24 hour period. $15 per hour. I don't think there's a limit. My trip home last week had 14 hours of detention on it.

    Rocks and Jrdude5 Thank this.

I'm sitting here at this new, under construction Walmart here in Pompano Beach, waiting for the contractor to move half the construction equipment on the job site so I can get backed in. It seems to me this delivery of freezers for the store is a complete surprise to the site forman. I guess I was the only one in the loop that knew about this delivery today.

Split break when you can and that 30 minute break becomes part of your 10.

    JohnBoy Thanks this.

Hey JB, so far you haven't gone anywhere west, right? Are you running regional or 48 states? And how fast does your truck go? Is it governed?

Yes. The 2 hour break can also be the 30 minute break. For example run 5.5 hours 2 hour break, run 5.5 hours 8 hour sleeper.

JohnBoy, Rocks and Jrdude5 Thank this.

As far as I know we can't split time. Not like the earlier days when I would do 5 and 4. They 8 hour time will reset itself but not the 14 hour as it must be a consecutive 10 with 8 hours minimum consecutive spent in the sleeper.
