But that won't happen because the big companies won't get checked because they're all about safety and being compliant. I can't wait till some big company truck gets involved in an accident, the EOBR looks legal, but then they check a driver's bank card or rewards card and find out that he purchased something someplace when the EOBR says he was moving..... EOBR's are nothing but babysitters for those who can't figure out how to do a log book.....

You all do realize that you're going to have to fill out a paper log to back up the EOBR, what happens if halfway through your day, your EOBR crashes and shuts down, are you going to sit on the side of the road till it's fixed, do you remember you duty status up to when it crashed, do you think a DOT officer is going to let you leave the scale because your EOBR went down and you have no proof of your duty statis?

Just having a qualcom is good enough, they can track all movement with those

What is it that causes those who don't like (usually more about fear of the unknown than anything rational) EOBR's or E-logs or what everyone wants to call them depending on which day of the week it is, to feel the need to lash out against those that have no real problem with the electronic logging as being "lazy", "not capable of doing a log book", and other stuff that rivals the stuff that comes out of the south end of a north bound bull. Man, we are dealing with some real fear here. I suggest that if one finds themselves getting to that level, they seek professional help. Must have been something in their childhood that is causing issues with them now.

I have had that happen. Its pretty simple. I can go online to the qualcom site and download my last 7 days and up to the minute that my unit crashed. Takes about 5 minutes. Save it as a PDF file and if the unit doesn't come back online print it at the closest truck stop. Start a paper log from that point. It would be a very rare thing that the cloud site would be down in which case it's time to stop.

Its really quite hilarious how some people think that if you don't agree with said point of view you need help or your full of fear..just because pigs love to roll around in their own feces don't mean others would..thats a metaphor if you cant figure it out..

OK, since you won't answer my first question, maybe this one will be easier, have you, PERSONALLY, ever used an E-log setup?

Untrue about the pigs by the way. I know it's a saying, still not true though.

Hey kanass transit, I'll say it like this ..I dont really care why or if some companies CHOOSE to use them ..the gripe is why should they be MANTATORY..I think if a company is a chronic HOS violator FMSCA should shut em down.

Therein lies my point, you don't have any responsibility other than to yourself, you have never had to go thru other drivers logs and decipher them, you have never been thru a Federal audit, you have never used the equipment that you are demonizing, you don't have your business, life savings, and future worth tied directly to what someone else might do.

Not to mention, I have well over a million dollars out running around the country, I happen to like knowing where that equipment is.

..the gripe is why should they be MANTATORY..I think if a company is a chronic HOS violator FMSCA should shut em down.

Did you ever consider that the reason a company may have a high CSA score is because of drivers that couldn't log correctly?
