I maintained my fathers flleet and did most the office work since I was 16.

I did other things in between. I worked an auto parts counter for awhile, I worked meaningless factory jobs. I owned an asphalt co for awhile which I blame for ruining the rest of my life. Oh and of course the Pizza place, you know what though. I loved that pizza place. I have considered many times opening one of my own but I'd eat all the profits!!

The money may not be there but I've been in positions in trucking co's where I started having to get int o the meetings, and office politics. I'll take the cab of my truck any day.

Funny, I find a LOT of degrees out there on the road, including myself. Mine was born of necessity, but I got it in my veins now. Cant seem to stay away from it.

I went to driving school in the early 80's, it was hard for a rookie to get a job, everyone wanted experience. Finally got a driving job with a company called Trans American, outta Grand Rapids, Mi. Stayed with them for about a month, HATED IT! Lots of east coast, weeks out, sitting for days in a truckstop, etc. Quit them, worked a factory for a few years, then got a job in an ATT warehouse. I was making 5.65HR there, in 1986, when Central Transport offered me $10.50 HR. Been driving ever since.

Before I drove a "land barge" I rode a bicycle with and without training wheels.
    It's twue!
    It's twue!

Just imagine my dismay when I found out the training wheels would NOT fit the land barge!
    Can y'all say "PANIC"? :biggrin_25523:

You must have seen me! :biggrin_2551: :biggrin_255:

Livin' in Fontana -- that's sure possible.
That's the area where I learned how to pilot
a land barge. And some might say I STILL haven't (learned).
That pops my bubble. :biggrin_25525: :biggrin_2559:
