So I've come to the conclusion that "Georgia overdrive" is a no no. Lol I can handle that. Just asking.
as for fuel consumption I really don't give 2 number 2s as the company pays for the fuel and me having better mileage doesn't get me a raise lol but thanks for all the responses.
Coasting?

[TD="class: text, colspan: 3"]n. Trucker-speak for coasting down a hill or more often a mountain with the transmission disengaged. 18-wheelers can only go so fast, and the engines slow them down when coasting, so to go faster they take the engine out of gear. Runaway truck ramps were built for people who do this.
I love doing the Georgia Overdrive.......It's like a feeling of a runaway freight train...

i thought this was a new driver forum for inexpierianced drivers to get information from veterans. sometimes questions are asked that may seem stupid to veteran driver. but regardless thease questions are being asked by new drivers and should be answered without demeaning comments , after all we were all there once and we are still learning today.happy trails

There was once a boss who was going to show his driver how to save fuel.
Georgia Overdrive.
And it did save fuel.
It did however cost him a new truck as he (the boss) wrecked it.
The boss forgot that there was a small bend in the road and he lost it.
After that "Georgia Overdrive" was never mentioned in that compagny again.
And yes,this really happend.Rick_C Thanks this. -

I got ten forward gears,
And a Georgia overdrive.
I'm taking little white pills,
And my eyes are open wide.
I just passed a 'Jimmy' and a 'White':
I've been passin' everything in sight.
Six days on the road and I'm gonna make it home tonight.Chinatown, okiedokie, daf105paccar and 3 others Thank this. -
My cdl school taught me the multiple reasons I couldn't coast downhill. You either weren't paying attention in your classroom or had god awful instructors.
crxdc Thanks this. -
with so much that's taught in such a short time frame.
