I'm empty, nice easy drop at a Sysco. What a nice place. I'm waiting for my next assignment. It'll probably be a deadhead move to drop this empty at our customer by the yard then I'll head over to see dispatch. Oh, did I say it's STILL raining?

Gotta love that rain!! NOT! I had it all the way down the WV Turnpike into Richmond. Heavy at times, but always raining some. I dropped my load at Sabra and sent in my "BT to the house for home time." message like I always do. Got a "Come to the yard." response. Never had that before. Ended up having to take a load over to Canon in Newport News before I could go home. Guess they wanted me to use up all my available hours for the day (3 driving). Don't know how familiar y'all are with Williamsburg/Newport News area on I64 at 3pm or later any day of the week, much less a holiday week. Let's just say I used up all my hours getting to Canon and then getting home-STILL IN THE RAIN!!!!!

On the way to drop the trl, a car passed me and kicked up something that hit my windshield right in front of my face. Now I have what looks like a little starfish about the size of a quarter there. I was shocked that it did that much to it, so I called the shop and was told they'd get back to me on what they wanted to do about it. I really don't need them to do anything, I don't think. I just wanted them to be aware that it happened. Especially if I have to wait until Monday to get it fixed. Oh, wait, that would mean and extra day at home....hmmmmmm.....decisions, decisions!!!! LOL

Y'all have a safe and happy 4th wherever you are!

Dropped my empty at HP then headed the 3 miles to the yard. I fueled the truck, got a much needed truck wash then went in to see dispatch. I am scheduled for home time Saturday and Sunday, coming back out on Monday. And again I will say, home time is not an issue here. I got a 2 stopper out of Boars Head. My first drop is in Longwood Fl 4am Friday, my second one is Orlando at 6am Friday. I'll be home at 11am. Right now I'm sitting in Kenly NC watching it rain and rain and rain. I'll be rolling at 4am. Between the rain and the rocket scientists driving these cars, I've had enough. Hopefully the 580 miles to my first drop will be less stressful.

My wife and I finally have to put our 20 year old cat down. She's been steadily going down hill the last 6 months and today she took the cat to the Vet because she has lost a ton of weight, can't eat anymore and won't stand up. The vet told her that Midnight is at the end and that to make sure she isn't suffering, the best thing would be to put her down. It's never easy putting an animal down, especially one that's been part of our household for 20 years. I told my wife to wait until I got home and we would do it on Saturday. So sad.

I feel ya' my friend. Putting down a long term member of the family like that is rough. We had to do the same with our 16yr. old ####zu a few months back. Standing there stroking her little head while it happened was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Even though we knew it was for the best, it didn't diminish the loss one bit.

People say "it's just a pet", well I used to say that too but have had to put a couple down the past two years for various reasons. It sucks.

Sitting at the Pilot in Nitro doing a Sabra swap. My MAJOR complaint with this company is COMMUNICATION!!! Tuesday pick up a Pella load in Gettysburg to take to the yard. Hit my 70 at Dale City (the weigh station on 95 at 154, some people call a different area). I sent in a message when I picked it up saying that I wouldn't make it all the way back but close by, and be there on Wed. No answer so I dragged my feet going to bed and would get up in the morning and head down. Got a call at 4:48 saying it was Andrew and when could I get it to the yard. Wiped the cobwebs out of my eyes to see what time it was and to make a quick calculation. He goes "you got your 11 back". I was pretty quick to reply "well actually 9". Got to the yard at 6 and then took a nap b/c I was tired (my fault).

Got up a little later and went in to tell Chris I sent in my End Trip, I have 7 hours and what does he have. Got a Sabra load that I needed to get to Grayson, KY. Chris and the guy that sits next to Jonathan were looking some things over so I went back out to the truck. Now I have 6:45, get the load assignment and have to pick up over at Sabra and get it to Grayson. 444 paid miles, have to grab an empty, fuel it since it is at a 1/4, take it Sabra, go to shipping, swap it out the get to KY. I go in and tell him he needs to get the other driver closer b/c I am not making it with those extras. He says start heading that way. 4:30 I hear nothing and call in, since I don't have time to stop and freeform. Told them they need to contact the other driver and tell him I'll be stuck at Nitro. Well they sent him a message saying I was in Nitro so he called me for the link up point. Well we get ahold of each other and make things work, as usual.

Dang, I type as much as I talk when I am on my laptop.

Swap out in Nitro and the swap goes back to Sabra. Drop and hook. Load assignment says Jul 5th for the drop, yeah right. I pick up 10 1/2 so I'll drop it tomorrow and see how they'll get me home. I have hometime for the 5th and 6th and said I'll head out Sun. Three weeks out, we'll see how this hometime thing works for me. In the past two weeks I've gone by and waved at the house 5 times. Why is hometime always seem to be an issue for people living on a main lane? Never understood that. I live about 180 miles from the yard, 79 miles from Pella in Gettysburg and a few miles from Domino in Baltimore.

Uturn, as far as home time is concerned as long as you put in the request and it's approved and in the system getting home has never been a problem here for me. They have moved heaven and earth to get me home when I requested it, even if I was in Wyoming or Washington state. Enjoy your time at the house when you do finally get home.
