Another thing...I actually found myself getting TIRED from sitting the required 30..I am good to go with a couple 10 minute breaks..it gets what I need accomplished and5 reenergies the batteries....it seems like anything more than that causes my bdy to relax and say "I don't feel like moving now"...YAY SAFETY!!

I will throw in one last piece of sarcasm. I'm so very thankful for this mandated 30 minute break. I have used it all week and can honestly say I feel so much more rested. I don't know how I was able to do this job the last 33 years without it............right. Can hardly wait for the next round of HOS changes, maybe they will mandate a half hour jogging at the local LA Fitness.

There is a solution to all these problems and situations.

    1) Get rid of the mandatory 30 minute break after 8 hours. Truck drivers know their bodies well enough when they need to take a break. They are NOT children in the schoolyard.

    2) Do away the 34 hour restarts.

    3) Continue to allow the drivers their 14 hour work days with the 10 hours of rest. Also revise the weekly driving hours to 11 hours a day, 7 days a week, a total of 77 hours a week.

    4) The federal government, the individual states, the trucking companies, and the truck drivers themselves, would all have to go along with this to make it work efficiently.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Whoever came up with this MANDATORY 30 minute break did NOT thoroughly think this through. In the long run, this could potentially cause more of a truck driver shortage, both OTR and local. It is too aggravating for many people to deal with.

You guys do realize you can take the 30min break any time within the first 8 hours right? It just states you cant drive more then 8 hours with out a break it doesn't say you have to stop at 8 hours driving to take a break no matter how many times you've stopped before then. The 30min break is nothing to worry about I'd be more concerned with the 168hour 7 day reset ######## I felt the pain of that one Jul 1st when an emergency came up with a another driver and shoulda left at 2-3am but couldn't cause of the new rules had to wait to 5am taking away any room for accidents traffic jams that sorta crazyness.

For the chip hauler if it took then 20mins to unload you wait an extra 10 and you got your 30min break its not like your the one dumping the chips so to me that's break time.

Incorrect,I am the one dumping the chips and of course I'm on duty while doing it.
I also rarely work 14 hrs and I only work 5 days a week, often I'm off at 9 or 10 hrs so why would I need a stupid 30 minute break after 8?
