Don't think this will be the norm, my first run or two as a trucker weren't the smoothest either (not quite as bad as yours though lol). Keep with it and get some normal days under your belt. You'll become more comfortable as you log more time behind the windsheild. Snow driving is never fun, I'm just happy it doesn't last all year.
Good luck!
My first run ( not sure if trucking is for me)

petesout,
Sorry to read about your first day. That sounded rough. Hang in there. If you are with a good company, you will do just fine. It will get better.
snorelord,
It's not a bootcamp. It is a place where you go to learn how to drive a truck safely. If you are at a good school, things will fall into place and you will do just fine. The key to this is that you must find a good company to work for. In my opinion, any company that places ads in a truckstop magazine is not worth a ####! Think about it. You see the same ads for the same companies over and over. Do you think that their business is growing so fast that they can't keep up with demand? Or do you think maybe, just maybe, it might be that they treat their drivers poorly with little pay, costly benefits, unrealistic load/unload times, dispatchers/managers that don't care about you and little home time? Just something to think about.

Welcome to the trucking world.Sounds like you got the bad stuff out of the way right out of the gate. Don't be discouraged, its a learning process and it takes time. Not all loads will be like this one.
