My friend from Jacksonville, FL has called me and asked about Werner's Training; how much backing is involved, to they focus a lot on backing, or if they don't offer training, how about the schools they send you to. He asked for my opinion, I figure its just another CDL mill but I couldn't give an educated opinion, so here I am. I told him what I thought of the company, but I guess he hes his mind set. He got his honorable discharge last month, and wants something less stressful then his last job and this is what he has chosen. So any help/ info about their training would be great. Thanks.

I drove for Werner for 4 years, from 2000-2004. I went through their training program, ran 48 states, and finished with them on a dedicated Walmart Grocery account. Their training program is good, but you have to make sure you get a good trainer. They can be hard to find because a lot of them are just in it for the money, but they do have trainers who will take the time to work with you on areas you need to improve on. In regards to their equipment, they are currently running Freightliners, Kenworths, and Peterbuilts, all i think have 435 CAT engines, and 9 or 10 speed trans. I was happy with the way they maintained their equipment...but that is just me i am sure there are some horror stories out there. Right now they have a lot of new equipment because they bought up a lot of new trucks to avoid the new 2007 emissions engines for a while.

I have been in training for 5 weeks now, and both my trainers are #### good, very knowledgable, and very helpful. Just listen to them and do as they ask and you shouldn't have a problem. I ran dollar general dedicated out of Indianola Mississippi for 3 weeks, now I am otr with a Owner Operator. I have learned alot and really have no complaints outside of the money...but thats with all companies during training.

I've been trying to get as much education on trucking and trucking companies as I can. What is the deal on the DAC? and what is a decent price to pay for geeting a copy of it and to get if fixed if needed?
Thanks -
Your goin to their school? Am I correct in assuming they only have a school in NE? Just wondering if they have more than 1 school--and how long does the schooling take do they say? -
Give 'em time, you'll see.
