It is not on problem on new devices that have not had a chance to wear. It is to prevent the odds of it wearing over time. Strain relief on the power cord is the number one way to prevent possible charging issues on every GPS in a big truck. Was just replying to your comment about "lock and freeze" because lack of strain relief and socket/cord wear is what CAUSES that.
And - a bad connection IS covered by the battery. For a little while... You are correct.

But that's the problem, I've read on Amazon reviews and other places that the 510 They had purchased new were locking up with less than a week of use. That's why I was asking Mark Kling what RM had done to correct the issue. There shouldn't be much wear in a week to 30 days. And remember, these devices are supposed to be made for a truck and should withstand the vibrations
