Ok, so I've been reading this thread for a while and would like to know if there's any reason I shouldn't try and get on with Abilene? I'm currently running for CRST...no comments from the peanut gallery, please...and my contract is up in November. I realize I'm not gonna be making SuperTrucker pay, I'm still a rookie after all, but I'm looking for a company that's gonna treat me decently and who I can be proud to drive for, while making a decent living. It helps that I live in RVA. Thanx for the input.
Jrdude5 Thanks this. -
I for one would never put down anyone for who they work for. If based on your driving experience at 1 year that might be an issue. Abilene requires 2 years, with exceptions. You might fall into that category. I would absolutely give Sally in recruiting a call and ask her. I haven't had many driving jobs in 33 years, this is just my 4th company in that time, but I will tell you this, home time is great, the equipment is top notch, and the miles are here. my pay is always spot on and the only time we speak to someone is if they need to have us switch loads with another driver. Other than that it seems like I'm the only driver here. I'm here 3 months now and I'm glad I made the move. Are they perfect? Nope, but what company is? They treat me right, and I make decent coin in the process. -
On my way up to mooresville nc to load in the morning. Not bad, a 701 mile deadhead to pick up a 326 mile run. Oh well, doesn't matter to me, I get paid the same. At least I'll be empty Wednesday and at the yard by noon to get something else.

Johnboy I would like to say that your thread is a great learning experience as I am following yours and ScooterDawgs. Both have given me some insight on Abilene. Hope you have a great trip and keep up the info.

I'm getting empty out in the a'hole end of nowhere, some little town called kilmarnock Va. It's about 80 miles from the terminal. I'm just waiting to hear back from dispatch to see what they want me to do. Having this Boars Head reefer really only means one of two things, bring it back to the yard or drop it at Boars Head in Petersburg. In any event, I need fuel, so either I do it at the yard or stop off at the Pilot 40 miles from here. That'll teach me to bypass a fuel stop.Last edited: Jul 10, 2013

I read in one of the threads that you can't fuel in Fl. or Va. at a fuel stop unless you have to. I understand in VA. because of they want you to fuel on lot but what is the deal with Fl.

Got my reload info. I have to bring this trailer back to the yard and hook to a loaded one going to Brooklyn for 8pm tonight. This ought to be fun.

well hopefully you leave now and get to park at customer before rush hour. I'd do a 10 at customer if allowed to park there. Hey Johnboy thanks for all the info you have posted can't wait till Jan so I can ride in big green machine.
