Got to my 01. had me loaded on 40 mins. But the trailer I hooked to. The landing gear will not move. grrrrreat. First loaf and mechanical problems already. it gets better right? Lol

Oh. I did find out I am dropping at my 99 so I should be able to make my next 01 on time. pending landing gear fixed. I also asked my DM. When it comes to situations like this can I go ahead and call the 99 to find out if I'm dropping? He said. No. Let him do that. But I'm sure that will change when he gets more drivers.

This is something I run into all the time at drop yards that have "yard dogs" they raise the landing gear up for the yard dog and when you hook to it if you dont lower the gear first it will hook but puts a lot of pressure on the gear. you have to lower it before hooking or if you forget put the crank in low gear and use some elbow grease.

you keep plenty on the truck at lest three gallons of fluids and some food. the problem i had is it was so hot out there I couldn't sleep (truck turns of after idling 5 minutes) that all my ice melted and my cooler full of food spoiled. the worst part is I missed my first turn to get to the place had to come in a back way so I was 15 min late for my appointment so no detention pay.

In the last six days I have made $200 . If I have another week like that I am sunk. My DM keeps saying the freight has all dried up and he can't get me anything especially going west.

Maybe freight has just dried up for him! I'd give it another week, if there is improvement maybe a few more. If the ball doesn't start rolling quickly I'd take my ball elsewhere. As in getting another DM.

Are you on the midwest regional fleet?

Nothing like waiting 45 mins at a mom and pop trailer washout.

Lol I've waited 90+ mins at a blue beacon in idaho. I was really glad I left early to get the ole wagon washed out that morning.

well after I made a wrong turn. spent an hour looking for a washout place tucked back behind buildings. Waited for an empty. I made it to my 01 at 2000, and the appt was 1600. Noone said anything, and my DM knew about it before. So I think im good. IDK. Full 8 hours of driving on nothing but state roads tomorrow to get to my 99. Then 2 hours to get to my next 01. then home time after i deliver that load. Couldnt come soon enough.

When did you tell your DM you weren't going to make your 99? the moment you knew you weren't going to make it, or did you wait until you'd been there 21 hours?

The moment you know something's up, you need to contact them over the Qualcomm. That's doubly true if there's another load backed up behind the one you're picking up at. When I was OTR, if it took more than 4 hours to get loaded somewhere, one of us was on the QC letting dispatch know, and letting them know how it was going to affect the load. That's also handy because of detention pay, you're setting up a message trail
