I'm a techy guy and I'm trying to help out a friend who handed me one of these GPS's. He asked me to see if I can get it to work. I said sure. Never used this make/model before.
Problem - the unit won't boot. I press the power button and get the truck driving on a highway picture. That's it. I have it plugged into my PC and it seems to be charging. I pressed and held the reset button for 15 seconds. No dice. I noticed a micro SIM card slot, but I don't see the SIM card in the slot. Will it boot without one? Thanks for your time.

It is not needed to Boot in the 720.
Think it's for updates or something. -
Any ideas on how to get it to start up?
-
Turn off for 12 hours, not connected to any power source. Charge on AC for 3 hours. The computer USB port will not charge the 710, only enough power to keep it alive.
try to turn it on, press the reset button.
Thanks,
Mark -
I'm waiting on the owner to get me the charger. I have an iPhone USB charger that plugs into an AC outlet. Will that charge the unit or is there a specific charger that it needs! Thanks Mark!

Okay, it's been off 12 and charged for 3. Power on and get the tractor trailer on highway and that's it. Never goes past that screen. I pressed the reset button for 15 seconds and released. Power on again same tractor trailer screen and it doesn't advance past that screen. Any suggestions Mark?

I disconnected it from the charger and pressed the reset button and power button at the same time for 15 seconds. It now boots up. Are there firmware updates that can be applied to the unit or map updates. I would like to return this unit to my neighbor working and fully up to date. Thanks for your time!
