Really? Drive 66-67 in a 70-75 mph speed zone makes us a supertrucker?
Your numbers DO lie. Because if you are claiming that 2 mpg is giving you $40,000 extra income, then that would mean 1 mpg is $20,000 in your math.
I'll ask you again. PROVE it and show us your math.HotH2o Thanks this. -
roughly 0.1mpg for every mph over 55. So you save or gain 1mpg in the difference of 67 to 57. Or in more realistic terms. You save 0.5 mpg driving 65 instead of 70. is it worth it?

Wind, weight, grade, etc all play a part or factor in mpg. You cant predict the wind but all factors add into your average mpg.In that average if you reduce your speed you will save. There is no single factor that dictates this. Weight is usually out of our hands and companys have a standard average they pull. You cant dictate the terrain we drive over or if you do your terrain is standard. The one thing you can control that aids mpg regardless if your a OO, CO, or Lease driver is speed.

OKAY YOU GOT ME!! Its $13800 per yr in fuel savings....BUT WAIT!!! What about increased tire wear and drivetrain wear and more DEF. Staying on the hammer might very well cost u a half life on 1 set of tires with in a year by it self. Increase speed = increase rpm=increase heat=oil thermal break down. So perhaps a oil sample comes back a little showing engine wear. Long story short is every trucker knows slower saves money. THE NUMBERS DONT LIE...... but here it goes.. 200000 miles per year team divided by 6mph times $3.89 per gal vs 7 or 8mpg. 6 vs 7 = saving $18524 per year for 1 mpg. So for a single o/o its $9250 fuel only. SO TELL ALL THE DRIVER WHO LIKE TO DROP THE HAMMER AND LATER LEAVE A COMPANY BECAUSE THERE KIDS ARE STARVING THAT ITS THEM AND NOT THE COMPANY THAT IS THE PROBLEM.

must be embarrassing to drive one of those fancy CASTRATED 58 mph peter cars .

Going fast don't make better looking or cool just vane.

Yes but you can SAVE $ on fuel without pretending to be a turtle as well.
Increase your OVERALL fuel mileage by a measely 1 MPG ( from 6 mpg to 7 mpg as an EXAMPLE ) at todays average fuel $ of $3.82 / gallon and if doing 120,000 miles a year you would save $10,999.00 ( this would vary as the $ of fuel varies )Hammertyme Thanks this. -
