Hi All,
It looks like I'm down to two carriers: May and CRST. CRE called me every two days last week, but I don't want to go with them. I know some of you are going to scream, "NEITHER!" Please resist the urge... This beggar can't hold out much longer.
CRST is a team position. MTC is solo. Both are driving lower 48 states. It doesn't sound like either would put me in Canada, but I wouldn't turn it down if it happened. Which one is more likely to run into NY and NJ? Do either of these carriers have APUs? Which one gets more upset about route deviation for fuel or traffic accidents? Which one is more likely to let drivers use their judgement with regard to storms and poor road conditions? What about layovers or being stuck at a shipper? How are break downs and routine repairs handled? Are either of these carriers tight about idling when it's super hot or cold outside? Are there any important details you can think of that I should keep in mind?
Thanks for your help.
Help me pick: CRST or May?

I still say neither, because if you do you will be like all the other moron OTR drivers that cant drive.
Have fun and dont scuff up those nike's -
May would be my pick. Also look at rhoel, central refrigerated, and if you want to do flat bed maverick or tmc. Stay away from swift Stephens and Werner . Schneider is a toss up.

Sometimes you take what you can get, in the beginning. 12 months later a whole new world awaits.
Why are they your only 2 choices? I'm not knocking either company, just curious why they're your only 2 choices with you living in CO.
Did you try these with terminals in CO? :
System Transport
JBS Carriers
K&B Transportation
Navajo
Mesilla Valley
The trans-system companies have APU's.
Prime has a reefer division terminal in Denver. -
Schneider, Roehl and Gordon tossed my application. Central Refrigerated never called. Crete and Celadon called once, had me sign releases and never called again. Maverick asked me to apply again in six months. Melton is out. Werner is out. Stevens is positive toward me, but I'm reluctant to go with them. CRE calls 2x/week. So, yes. I'm beggar status. If I wait much longer, I have to take another refresher course which will be more money from my pocket or indentured service.
Jrdude5 Thanks this. -
