Sure seems like I've been dedicated on I5 lately. Miles aren't great, but with my mother recovering from hip surgery I don't mind staying close.
Talked with a freight driver in Clackamas who was tired of dock work and wanting to switch to truckload, but denied because Oregon is outside the hiring area. Funny how grass is always greener...

I'm currently at my first home time since starting with Conway. I must say, I love the "first day doesn't count" on home time. I suppose it's not as great if you show up at 0600, but it is what it is. It feels like a day is gifted.
Pay rocks so far. No complaints at all on that front.
The 12 volt problem I had on my truck...completely my fault. My 2 year old GPS had a faulty connector and that is what blew the fuses on the 12 volt connectors. I tried my GPS on both circuits and blew it twice, once on each circuit. Why I didn't see this before is beyond me, but problem solved when I found out that ACCESSORY fuses were in fact the fuses to replace.
34 resets...not a company gift, a DOT resting period that has the side effect of resetting a drivers hours, because being away from home, dealing with traffic, dealing with weather, and generally just being stuck in a truck tend to exhaust ANYBODY. I must say, I'm used to doing a 34 reset a week, in a HOTEL..the ENTIRE TIME I'VE BEEN DRIVING. I'm probably spoiled, but I do get road weary and start making mistakes if I run straight for too long.
Over all, happy with my experience thus far. I thank everybody who gave me advice on various issues and I hope to continue rocking on...
LA TRAFFIC SUCKS. 2 hours to go 10 miles. It's part of the job.....Wildblackyonder and double yellow Thank this. -
hopefully the load out will be pre-loaded & I can stay below my 14 clock...
anyone else hate that new 8 hr count down ? I'm ok with taking a 30 min ..but I would rather just see my 11hr clock dropping down -
I hate the rule, but am glad the 8 hour counts down drivetime on the qualcomm -- just one less thing to think about while driving.

Does a DOT crash with that require a tow truck and a shoe horn?
Victim of a bad divorce lawyer...they had to split everything... -
Cuba, dropping in Neosho at zero dark hundred (02:00). Will get some new filters in JOPMO, and highlighted for home by the weekend.
Anyone with the new Prostar with cummins, T/A and Petro don't carry one of the filters so it is a wasted trip. Haven't checked on Speedco since I will be in Jopmo tomorrow anyway.
Be safe you all. -
For Paul, stay off the worms and walk a block or two for a $5.00 breakfast.

For the guy worried about home time in Slidell...you should do fine. You don't see our trucks because we disquise them as CFI trucks when we pass through that area. Plenty of pick ups and deliveries in Baton Rouge, New Orleans that getting home and then out again should be easy.

Sitting in Taylor...picking up my first student tomorrow.
paul_4lp Thanks this.
