Your right, they can't be replaced. I'm like you, I'm glad he changed for the best. What a career , he got to enjoy what he loved doing. Wish we all could say that.....lol

Yes, I still listen to those great old singers. I was raised on Johnny Cash, Waylon, Willie, Kristofferson, and Glen Campbell etc. But I also listen to Rock as well, new and old, though there really isn't any new music that is worth the time.

New Country is mostly a joke! New Rock is mainly just awful!

On the rock end I listen to Paul Westerberg, Tommy Stinson, etc.

But nothing will get you in the mood to jam gears more than those old country tunes!

If you think about it, they were blessed to have lived in that time and era. Think about just how many great country singers and rock singers that came from that time period. Listening to the Grand Ole Opry on the radio 650am Nashville was something to look forward to on a Saturday night.

That was a good tribute. George Jones seemed like a real down to earth guy.

camaro68, I couldn't agree with you more! Too, the movies, the series of shows that were on TV...lots a great things and people gone and no one carrying the torch. I see your name is "camaro68." I have a 1973 Dodge Charger sitting in the yard that my son is working on, and I own a 1968 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible. I've owned a lot of good cars in the past. Wish I had all of them back!

I mowed a lot of yards back then to afford my first car. It was a 1968 Camaro SS, 4 speed, 454 engine. It was used, but it was very new to me. I'm like you I wish I had that car back. I remember giving it a good wash. Then cruising up town. You could check out how clean it was by looking at the cars reflection in the store windows........lol
