question on loves in oak creek,wi

    Good afternoon. I am not promoting my business here But have a few questions. my father was a truck driver for about 30 years. I've been around it my entire life and believe I have a business idea which could make me money, keep drivers happy, and give u guys something to look forward to when in the area. I am 36 now and would like to help bring in some money for the family. Loves tels me that I cannot solicit my idea in case some drivers got upset. It's a legit idea - one which everyone wins. It's not sexual or weird.

    How can I pitch this idea? I'd love to get some opinions about if this idea is worth pursuing or if this already exists.....also I'd like to ask if it is a safe idea and if it is something drivers would realistically pay for.

    Way to vague. I understand wanting to protect yoru idea. You can't expect feedback with no description of a service you intend to sell.

    Didn't want to get kicked out for talking business - it was one of the site rules. I want to clean the interior of trucks while drivers are waiting for their next load. I know my dad's truck looked like hell when he was out for a long time and I have owned a personal cleaning business for 9 years. Cleaning huge houses is just getting hard on my body. This seems like an untapped market and I think drivers would appreciate climbing I to a clean truck just as much, if not more than my house customers. Thank you!

    Lol. Yes. I assume the other option is while they are driving But don't think the family would like that.

    I've seen this done successfully at a truck wash. She wasn't associated with the truck wash, just they recommended her as an interior detailer.

    I have seen this service offered and be used. Not sure how well they were doing though. They had a nice van with a mobile detailing specializing in big trucks. Hop on the CB and start putting it out there. The drivers I have seen use this service while parked at the truck stop.

    Sorry - wasn't sure if you planned on being mobile or what (like those windshield repair services that will meet you wherever need, etc). I'm not a truck driver but based on my years of business experience here's my 2 cents:

    If you want to do it as your own independent business you definitely would need to work out a deal with the owner/manager of the truck stop property. And they likely would need approval from their corporate masters (even if franchised). And if your service infringes on any of their services it could be a deal breaker. You would need to pitch it to them as 'you can increase your business by offering my services'. You need to stress to them the benefit to the truck stop. They might even ask for a cut or at least require your monthly sales figures (so if you're doing really well then they can kick you out and hire their own employees for minimum wage - 'cuz that's how corporations work).

    Maybe an independent local truck wash that doesn't offer interior detailing is a good place to try to get your business started since it goes hand-in-hand with truck washing and you don't have to mess with the corporate red tape. Good luck - sounds like a pretty viable idea.
