In accordance to the edicts issued by the ruler of the house (that would be the wife) we are now eating low-cal, low-fat, low sodium foods (you guessed it, rabbit food) and I have been on a steady diet of BP meds.

The numbers have dropped steadily for the past few days and tonights check had me at 128/72. Not bad.

And the whizzing thing seems to have gone away for the most part as I am back to my 10-allon,cast iron bladder. Must have been an odd thing at the start of the meds.

I do like the idea of getting the DOT physical done before I quit my job. There's enough obstacles in the way (like blind-side backing or double clutching) to worry about to let a physical get in the way.

    Again, thanks everyone.

Yes i have--some people amazes me that they can even walk to the door sometimes. I have the opposite problems--when i am out on the road i tend to lose weight not gain it! :biggrin_25513: The docs are always amazed that my bp is low as it is being a driver.

I'm guessing you must be losing weight from the lack of "food" while driving. I tend to not like to eat when I drive, so I suppose when I am driving for a living I might be eating less than I do now. Just alot of coffee.

Just hafta figure out how to get that espresso maker wired into the B seat. . .

Yeah I have seen some drivers get out of their cabs with sweats pulled up over their rears and wondered if they are wearing sweat pants because they're comfortable or because they outgrew their pants. . . .:biggrin_2554:

I dunno i always didnt eat much when working. I only do coffee in the mornings and usually dont really eat till i park in the evenings. When i first started otr i was # 130 pounds and now i hang right around 114. So, normally i only eat maybe once a day and sometimes snack throughout the day. So i guess thats why i lose weight. I dunno! :biggrin_2559:

trust me I'm no small guy at around 350 myself but I saw a guy last time I was at the flying J who was at the buffet and he had to go at LEAST 500 pounds. he sat down with like 4 heaping plates and you couldn't see the chair when he did sit down. I have no idea how he drives. I'm bigger in the chest than anything and I have to be selective on what brand of truck I drive or I will rub my belly all day on the wheel. some macks etc I just can't fit in. This guy could barely move his tree trunk like legs, I have NO idea how he could pass a physical other than he was real young. Given 5 years he probably won't.
I lost about 100 pounds a few years ago eating a modified low carb diet and I was able to get off all my blood pressure meds. although I was creeping back up and my last physical I wasn't sure if I'd hit the bp mark. Used to be I couldn't pass the older limits which were a good bit higher then they are now

I never been a big person anyway but I just feel sorry for some of the drivers I seen. It seems they have issues walking let alone anything else. I could not imagine even gaining 20 pounds even though that would not do much to me but still.. I know its a hard life living on the road and hard to get healthy meals--My father had the same problem--he was a pretty big man too.

I agree with you on the overweight issues here.........

But just for the hell of it let me throw this is. Blood pressure problems can be hereditary like Cholesterol issues.

We have numerous regular weight drivers who are taking medications to keep this under control.

So it's the old saying here.....Being normal weight helps, but won't stop the bad jeans (genes) from filling up the crack.:biggrin_2552:
