For whatever its worth, here is my experience with loading step decks...we run 48' steps with the spread all the way to the rear. If you are hauling anything that takes up the entire lower deck and is uniform in weight, you need to be very concerned if it weighs over 42K lbs. You will be heavy on your trailer almost every time. If there is more than a foot of rear over hang, start being careful when you get to 40K. It looks like you have a 53' trailer with the wheels up 5' from the back, which would carry the weight the same way. That piece went from the step all the way to the 53' mark. My guess would be that you could not take more than 40k lb load that looked like that. One other thing to keep in mind, just because 39.5K would be legal back there it is not a good idea to load that heavy. Especially in the summer and heading to Texas. Has tire failure written all over it.

Debating on if I want to leave tonight and head over to Ohio and get a jump on my trip, or just leave early in the morning and drive the entire 650 miles.... the only downside to coming home is getting the motivation to leave out again.
Cluck Cluck, Clasix1055 and Logan76 Thank this. -
