How is "Obamacare" going to affect the health insurance benefits for both new and long time truck drivers, both OTR and local?

If you are covered by a plan then nothing. But if you are not covered by a employee sponsored plan or have your own coverage then you are required to signed up for Obama care or face a penalty assessed at tax time. At least that's how I understand it.

The OP referred to "Obamacare". How are we going to discuss this without politics? ... which is sort of the point, health care and politics don't belong in the same conversation, but alas, it is required now.
-
The "Affordable Health Care Act" is anything but -A- Political... and from what I've seen on similar topics, you may as well shut it down now if that limitation is your goal.
This law will be difficult to navigate for all concerned.
The only part of it that seems a certainty from my view... fewer benefits at greater costs. -
The OP asked whether Obamacare/Affordable Care Act is going to affect health insurance benefits in the trucking industry. If you don't see how employee benefits are a separate topic from politics, please refrain from posting in this thread.
dannythetrucker and Charli Girl Thank this. -
We had a small mom and pop recruiter come to school yesterday. They couldnt afford insurance. Said it was because of Obamacare. Said rates went sky high. However he said that they are working on bringing thme back. Btw that recruiter was the company president as well.

Fine. Health insurance in the future will cost more and offer less. As one who has a private insurance policy (single) my premiums today are 28% higher today then they were this time in 2011 and I had to recently drop down a level in coverage plane, and raise my deductible to be where I'm at today. What's going to happen next year, I don't know. I guess that's sort of up to BCBS and what they can work out to stay within the _________ guidelines and requirements.

Dropping? Are there any DRIVERS who can confirm this? If there's "LOTS" of reports on this, then I'm sure some will chime in and bestow us with the benefits of the "Affordable Healthcare Act". For every anecdotal story I hear about a premium dropping I hear 10 REAL stories about rates increasing drastically. And if the "rate has dropped", I'm curious if the plan changed along with the "drop".
