I got the word today that I was accepted. Do any of you have any tips for orientation (other than stay off the grass)? The last thing I want to do is get sent home for something stupid. I have just over a year of OTR experience with dry vans.
Just got accepted to the Black and Chrome family

Good luck, I start orientation on Monday! When do you start?
-
Probably the best advice is to act like an adult. A lot of guys get out there for the two weeks and act like they are on vacation and 17 again. This is a two week job interview and they ARE paying attention. You are expected to be able to pass the tests they give you and progress. Take the two weeks seriously and you will be fine.
Good Luck!indianaEMT Thanks this. -
I assume they have done all the employment verification, background checks before they invite you to orientation?
-
My advice is to pay full attention to the securement training and the rest will fall into place. The money is good in flatbed, and maybe one day you could get into the specialized flatbed division there. I've seen brand new Petes on that division.

I am very excited, I've wanted to do flatbed all along and will take securement VERY seriously

Heading to orientation on the 26th. What model of trucks are the new guys getting now?
-
New recruits are getting the 379 that most of the fleet is driving. As the new trucks come in (579) the are signed out to current drivers first. Keep in mind that there are over 1500 trucks being replaced and its going to take some time. Sooner or later the entire fleet will be in new trucks.
Good Luck!
