You give me 500 mile loads all day long if they are drop/hook LOL! Short runs are not a problem for me either!

Most of these are drop and hook, and beer gets unloaded quickly if it's live unload.

Have to agree with Baritone about miles when i was with millis i never had a problem getting miles and if i did it wasn't just me it was everybody because freight was slow in a certain region. I was one of the ones that went home every other weekend and still had 2800 to 3800 miles my first week out and around 1800 to 2800 miles my second week depending on what I did my first week. I picked up alot of loads that could not be delivered on time and I was never charged with a late delivery as long as i let dispatch know as soon as i got it.

I was at Millis before the fatal accident on I-90 in NY which was the wreck that pushed Millis into going to electronic logs. Back in those days they let you run as hard as you wanted to run and the miles were there to do just that. I still have a very good friend there who I talk to all the time and he gets 3000+ miles every week doing long and short hauls. He is careful about how every minute of his day is spent and manages to run it all legal. When I was there it was the same deal with drivers crying that they were lucky if they got 2000 miles a week and I was doing a minimum of 3200 miles a week. I don't think I ever had a week with under 2500 miles unless I went home that week. Its always the same guys crying and you find them everywhere you go. Theres a reason for that, it's called ....LAZY! The company makes money when the truck is rolling down the highway so they like to keep them rolling. The miles and freight is there for the guys that want to run. Prove to your dispatcher that the loads he gives you will get there when they are suppose to and show him you want to run and run you will. I haD other issues with them and me and mike would bump heads so I went elsewher:biggrin_25514:e driving my own truck but if I was doing the company thing and didn't have to deal with mile then Millis would be ok by me. The pay there is decent , miles are there and my check was always right. I have recommended them to a few people since my days there and haven't gotten any complaints. As far as a starter company goes I don't think you'll find a better one. Good luck to you

It's been a while since I've seen their hiring area but I can tell you we don't get much fl freight. We go to fl but not much, compared to most of our other freight.

Millis just decided to put in cab cameras facing the drivers in all their trucks.i am not to happy about it. There is no freedom of the open road here.

It's in some trucks, not all... And they are just for problem drivers. I'm training in one with a camera, it isn't a huge deal

No, they are planning on putting driver facing cameras in all 830+ trucks (confirmed by Bill Smith)... Yeah, I can say life would be a lot better without them, but it's not the end of the world. And, if a ton of drivers decide to jump ship because of it, that just means there will be more work available for me. It's not just Millis doing this, if you do your research, there are many other companies starting to do the same thing to their entire fleets as well. I don't agree with it at all, but I'm not the man in charge.

From what I've heard and read, granted not a whole lot, companies are putting cameras in but they are facing out not in. This is the first time I've heard of a camera facing the driver. But then again just because I haven't heard about it doesn't mean it isn't happening. ;)
