Its not the cb. The 720 is in the exact same spot as the 510 was. The gps reciever for the peoplenet is no where near the dash and goes out around same times. Nothing happening on the cb or phone most of the time. Cb has been off, on, chatter and no chatter. I've been on the phone and off it. Phone in cup holder and in between seats on cooler. Playing music and not. Peoplenet screen is about 2 feet away. Again nothing different than when I ran the 510. I ran it since January 2012. Rarely lost gps signal. The 720 is usually fine. But when a bad storm comes in I start checking the route to make sure I know my turns just in case. Like I said its been worse thru this summer. Thats what makes me think sunspots. Those play havok with electronics and radio signals. GPS signals, tx and rx are sensitive due to how they work. Thats why I suspect that's the bigger issue.
I've looked at the signal screen before but its been awhile. I think it said no sats seen. But don't quote me.
I still have my 510. I may run both for a while to see if it goes out when my 720 does. Itll be a hassle to run both but should provide some definitive answers. Problem is placement. Obviously can run it in exact same spot and I'm not stacking it above the 720. To much of a blind spot if I do that.

I know they did move the satellites at least for my area (NC) a few months back. I used to be able to get signals from my desk, now I don't.
Thanks,
Mark -
Mid west, southeast, 95 corridor, northeast, east and south texas. It is sporadic and has happened everywhere I've been. Sats being moved a little and spots would both cause this. But I'm not angling my unit.more than it is. Shouldnt have to. If its not easy to glance at it is usless. I'm not risking a wreck because I have to angle the unit. (Yes that's extreme but you get my point.)
Next time it happens ill post a pic of the gps sat seen screen
Day that was taken it was over cast no rain. -
The satellites are always moving. If you can't receive the GPS signals at your desk anymore, I would look for something a bit closer. Something as simple as the guy in the cube next to yours getting a new computer can do it.
And it's not always something big. Those "brick" power supplies, like the ones used by laptops, are notoriously dirty. Fluorescent lights can also be noisy, especially the cheap CFLs.
And to keep the post in line with the trucker's board, inverters are noisy. Especially the "modified sine wave" types. -
I believe he ment repositioning. They do move in orbit but sometimes aerospace does a complete repositioning of the gps system.
SilverShadow Thanks this. -
Just a brief note, 30 years of electronics and computers in my history.
