Idle air is excellent way to make your truck smell like the last driver
I wonder how often those units are cleaned? I'll bet there's enough funk in there to make the health department take notice. I wonder what the mold and fungus count is in there.
What is "IDLE AIR" ive see these at truck stops what are they

new apu installed around $10,000.... idleair avg under $2.00 hour so you would have to use the apu for 5,000 hours just to break even but to run the best apu at .2 gph for 5,000 hours it will use 1,000 gl. of fuel @ 3.75 per gl that $3,750 for fuel plus the $10,000 for the apu... that's $13.750
$13.750 at ildeair at 10 hours pre stop will last 687.5 days and that's if you never have any work done to the apuIdleAir Thanks this. -
@AirForceVet, thanks for your question! IdleAir is an alternative to idling your truck, just like staying in a hotel room, investing in an APU, or putting on another blanket when it's cold. IdleAir Premium Service includes air conditioning, 120V electricity, DIRECTV, and basic Internet access. Premium Service costs $2.19/hr (+tax) for the first ten hours of a continuous visit, and then the price automatically drops to $1.69/hr (+tax). If you have any questions or wish to try IdleAir for yourself, please call us at 877-738-7024. We hope to see you soon!

I've used it a few times while in Tx when the temp was over 100. I have a apu but temps of 100 or above overpowers my apu, too much for my 96 in sleeper.

Note that IdleAir didn't address the stench and questions of health risks associated with their units.HotH2o Thanks this. -

@DRHinSATX, we're sorry if we overlooked the issue of smoke smell in our earlier post. IdleAir has several non-smoking spaces at every location, but unfortunately, some customers still smoke in non-smoking spaces. For ALL spaces, IdleAir uses hotel-grade cleaners to clean out the complete HVAC system in each space. It's the same technology that removes smoke smell from hotel rooms, rental cars, and even clothes that were in a house fire. We do run the hotel grade cleaners regularly, but during the summer we get very busy. If you pull into a space right after a smoker has pulled out, we may not have a chance to run the cleaner. If you're ever dissatisfied with the way a particular unit smells, you can try moving to another space, or contact a site representative and give us about 20 minutes to clean out the space. Finally, if you plan on coming to an IdleAir location, give us a call at 877-738-7024, and we'll do our best to hold a freshly cleaned, non-smoking space for you.
