What is "IDLE AIR" ive see these at truck stops what are they

Idle air is excellent way to make your truck smell like the last driver

I wonder how often those units are cleaned? I'll bet there's enough funk in there to make the health department take notice. I wonder what the mold and fungus count is in there.

 

no the screen is for the odering and stuff, you need your own tv and you can hook it up to the idleair satellite system

 

They are bacteria, cigarette smoke, and mold distribution stations.

 

i'm a o/o.... I use idleair because it's cheaper than a apu

new apu installed around $10,000.... idleair avg under $2.00 hour so you would have to use the apu for 5,000 hours just to break even but to run the best apu at .2 gph for 5,000 hours it will use 1,000 gl. of fuel @ 3.75 per gl that $3,750 for fuel plus the $10,000 for the apu... that's $13.750

$13.750 at ildeair at 10 hours pre stop will last 687.5 days and that's if you never have any work done to the apu

I have seen where people do pretty cheap systems getting a small generator and mount an AC, always an option as well

 

I've used it a few times while in Tx when the temp was over 100. I have a apu but temps of 100 or above overpowers my apu, too much for my 96 in sleeper.

 

Note that IdleAir didn't address the stench and questions of health risks associated with their units.

IdleAir has several non-smoking spaces at every location, but unfortunately, some customers still smoke in non-smoking spaces. For ALL spaces, IdleAir uses hotel-grade cleaners to clean out the complete HVAC system in each space.
