If one would read my posts from my last company, they'd see I am doing exactly the same thing. I go for it and run. I am not afraid of work and I turn nothing down. I'm out here to make money. And that's what I do.

3225 miles in 70 hours in 7 days does not seem likely under new HOS. What do your daily miles/driving hours/on duty hours off your QualComm look like?

Gordon tells its drivers to estimate travel time 50 mph and add 1 hour per 250 miles. So 70/6 = 11.66 segments of 250 miles in 70 hours. (Gordon forbids drivers to exceed 65 mph even down hill. Trucks buttoned 61/63--cruise on/off.) 11.66 segments of 250 miles = 11.66 x 250 = 2916 maximum miles the 'Gordon Way'. You would have needed picture perfect loads to hit 3,000.

The 'Gordon Way' figures a maximum 2916 miles under the new HOS in a 'perfect' 7 days without somehow fueling, loading/unloading or scaling a load.

3,000 is unlikely, let alone 3,225. Please explain.

I don't know how long you've been driving, but there's a way us "old school" guys have done it for years. Keep that left door closed. Anything is possible when you know what you're doing and plan the trip accordingly. Professional drivers have done this for years and continue to do it. It's not hard to do the job when you want to do the job.

Even with the new HOS its possible. It's a half hour break, one that we took anyway most times, when it wasn't mandated. If your life changes because of a 30 minute break, then you're not doing the job the right way.

Here at Crere, we're governed at 62, and I can tell ya it is quite doable. I did it last week, clocking nearly that exact number of miles.

Has nothing to do with 30-minute break. That shouldn't bother any of us.

The new rules change your resets. Now you can reset only once after exactly 70 hours.

    From JJ Keller Q & A:

    How does the 168-hour-rule work?

The purpose of the 168-hour rule (according to the DOT) is to make sure that drivers cannot put in 70 hours of work, immediately take a restart, and then immediately go back to driving, week after week. This results in drivers being able to average about 82 hours per week instead of a maximum of 70.
Under this new restriction, drivers will not be able to start another “restart” break until 168 consecutive hours — exactly 7 days — have passed since the start of their last “restart” break. For example, a driver who begins a restart break at 8:00 p.m. on a Tuesday will not be able to start another restart break until 8:00 p.m. or later on the following Tuesday, even if the driver runs out of hours long before then.

What do your daily miles/daily driving/daily on-duty look like off your QualComm? It's easy to make a claim if you don't prove up. You could well be in violation and not know it under the new HOS. Maximum 70 hours in 7 days.

Not on an elog the log will automatically put you into violation.

BTW, I just a restart ending this morning after not having one for a while. You don't need a reset every week.
