My first week and orientation is past me now. Orientation was boring as it usually is, although they ran me hard the remaining week. I'm not complaining, I'm here to drive. Still having trouble with paper logs, was on qualcom for the last year. All and all, I'm enjoying and already making more money then I did as an OTR driver for the last company.

The Holland terminal in Grand Rapids, they are updating their trucks, the newer trucks say "Holland" and they are slowly updating trailers getting rid of the ones that say "USF" and "USF Holland" on them and going strictly to "Holland". The newer trucks are Freightliner Columbia's and there are more of them sitting at the Freightliner dealer in GR as well.

@chadastrophic we are supposed to bid twice a year at my terminal... and this is the 7th time we will be doing it... Our management really needs to get the heads out of their @#$s

@JGygli where did they send you to during the week? ANd yes that money is a lot sweeter than OTR. When I was running extra I was avergaing 2200-2800 miles a week... just miles not including clock time... On my bid I usually only average 18-22 but get a lot more clock time which ends up adding up... For a while I was getting 430+ miles a night on this bid, now Im lucky if I hit 325, they find it funny to send you on the busiest highways during rush hour...

@CrazyCool I saw pics online of your new white freightshakers. You guys got the Columbias and we get Cascadias... not sure why they did that but whatever. A lot of our trailers are being sold and the newer ones are getting rebranded nd refurbed, plus we got some coming off the assembly line... Our tractors(older ones) that have rebuilt drive-trains have been rebranded with the YRC logo. Hate to say it but it seems like those trucks are more doggier than the original ones. I had an Roadway unit today, not rebuilt, did 65mph+ had 36k in the trailers and on the hill we go up on this one way normally the trucks average 35mph, for whatever reason it kept doing 50. I had to bobtail with it and the truck took off like a rocket.

not too sure, but a few friends of mine from CWF said that the cascadias are lemons, CWF is having nothing but problems with the brand new ones... I just thought YRC wouldve kept everything the same... But then again New Penn has Macks. Mack will not do business if you tune down their engines, they say they refuse to look bad. Cant blame them though

Cascadias and columbias are almost identical trucks, besides the deeper slope, split windows. But look at the grill on a columbia, they just made it longer and modified it for the cascadia, along with the headlights.. And I havent heard anything about the cascadias being lemons.. And they are getting miles on them, around 2000miles every day or so and on triples duty.

and to top it off our contract was just extended another 2 years... so looks like we arent getting that 15% back... AGAIN

I wonder how much YRC is paying the union under the table for that.

Maybe by you they are ok. Friend of mine at XNJ said they had to bring all the new trucks back to the dealer, nothing but problems, he heard about 600 of them being brought back
