don't need to. I pulled them and they are good. there is some slop forward and backward but it is about 1/4". I looked up the dot specs and I'm allowed 3/8 so I'm going to just run it or a bit then replace the whole thing. It's an ancient fontaine that is obsolete now anyways. The jaws are tight. it's just that bit of slop in the slider that causes a bit of play.

I just put a JOST on my truck, pretty simple and the thing I like the best is the wear part of the jaws is replaceable teflon. Or some kind of super hard composite some thing or another. -
So that is the ultra no lube model then right? no lube on the plate and no lube on the jaws?
I was talking with a guy th eother day who has one of those aluminum no lube jobs. That thing is so pretty it's a shame to hook a trailer to it.
If I have a sugar momma I would need to work at all.She makes good money, enough to pay the bills and live but that's it. If anything bad were to happen it would hurt. She actually told e she wanted me to stay home and I was like "No way in HEll!!!" I'd be the joke of all the truck drivers! lol

I'm not sure if it was no lube or not. I put some on the plate and jaws. I couldn't help myself. I just couldn't go at it dry.

Nice, but mine doesn't have the wear pads like that. Mine only has the changeable part at the front of the jaw area.
This isn't that great of a pic, but you can see the white inner ring, then a darker ring with 4 spots on it? Those spots are the torx bolts that remove changing that whole small piece.

ya we went to a few jost at my last job. Can't rmember why, something about new hollands not selling parts or being as much as a new fifth whell or some thing, I forget. That happens when it isn't your money!
It wasn't that one though. I thought you were talking about one with the wear pads. I hear they have some now that even the jaw doesn't need lubricating.
I'v heard about the Jost plates cracking though so keep an eye on it -
When I got this truck the POS Holland on it wasn't adjustable. And a rebuild was going to cost me almost as much as the new JOST. Didn't take much to figure that one out.

Please keep the updates coming as they are very interesting. How big is the sleeper and does it need replacing? Forgive me, but is the flat top really comfortable?
