I may know the answer to this but - What do you think? Lone Star or ATS L/opt! Struggling to decide!

Im an O/O at ATS right now. I dont recommend coming here. The rates here are terrible. Im not l/p, but the few guys I talked to arent all that happy. Im looking to make a move sometime soon.

Btw, I dont recommend l/p anyway. The one here is a straight lease. You pay for the truck for a full year, and then you have the option to actually begin buying the truck. I was told not to talk to the one driver at orientation because they were blowing sunshine up his rear, and I made sure he knew that at the end of that year he would not own it. He thought he would, apparently the truth makes them very angry!

Thanks for the info. That helps me make my decision. I also talked to a driver doing the l/p and he did not really sound very happy with ats or convincing. He said he had 2 more payments and he will own the truck out right. But he did not sound like he was happy with company. He talked about waiting for loads for a long time in laredo etc. From the ls threads i have not really heard alot of waiting.

When in Laredo we usually have several loads in the yard that you'll get. I've never waited more than a couple hours for a load out of Laredo

Waiting? Not this summer. I've been pre-planned on most of my loads shortly after I pick up a load. Now winter will be a different story I'm sure.

Yeah the guy I know who is with ATS told me he may have to behind 5 to 10 trucks waiting on freight. I was shocked about that also because I would not imagine waiting on any type of freight coming out of that place. I use to go there with JCT and Stevens and I normally had a load waiting on me. I know Reefer is much different though. But I have pretty much made up my mind and I am headed in to Lone Star in November. I just need to get some things wrapped up in the next few months.

The only time I've ever sat in Laredo was due to me being out of hours. Even then I had a load ready for me, just couldn't go anywhere.

    DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

What is the drivers test like at Lone Star? I never backed up a spread axle before.
