You were averaging 6.5-6.64 miles per gallon which is not that bad.

That's the reason. I knew it was something like that.

my truck don't run on gas, couldn't tell ya the gas mileage. My math puts my fuel mileage for that trip at something like 7.7mpg

the bunk is a 62 inch pete walk in. I have a house and have no desire to live in my truck for a month at a shot so it is just fine for me. I'm 6'1" and if I bend my neck I can stand up to put my pants on. Besides Nothing oos cooler than a flat top pete!

The interior in this truck is in surprisingly good shape it just needed a cleaning. It has rubber in the front and some indoor out door crpet in the bunk. I have some left over flooring from my house I'm considering putting in. It may sound funnky but it's a resisliant type floor which is basicaly a real thick and heavy lenolium in a wood pattern. It sticks to itself on the edges and floats on the floor. I know, lenolium wood???? but I did my two bathrooms with thi stuff and I swear you can not tell it isn't wood without getting on your hands and touching it. It looks 100 time more real than laminate flooring and doesn't scratch. Anyways I'm just thinking of it because I have it. Probably will do the bunk and see how it looks since the carpet in there is real tacky. the rubber up front looks new.

My biggest problem with the truck is I'm a big ol boy! the 359's are 6inches narrower than the 379 petes and there is lieterally only a foot between the seats, that's not including the arm rests. it makes it a bit snug getting in the bunk. I'm considering removing the passenger seat so I can put a cabinette in there for my microwave, coffee pot and cooler.

The wood floor is a good idea as well as removing the passenger seat. I would add an APU once you get some money but that is entirely up to you. Other than that. you have one cool truck. hope the landstar deal goes through and please post more photos of this sweet pete.

I'm looking at the nite system or espar system. It is a unit that burns diesel to make heat and heat your coolant and it's battery operated AC supposed to be good for 10 hours. Have to run an extra 4 deep cycle batteries for it, tips the scales at 550 pounds. There is one on ebay right now I was eyeballing but no money now.

Ive got some of those Espar diesel fired heaters and have also run the nite-air battery operated A/C. The Espar heaters are the best money you could ever spend, but in my opinion the Nite-air A/C units are JUNK.

well that's good to know. I hate buying things I have no experience with. I know the espars are good but doesn't help much if you don't have ac. this is TX afterall. What is the problem with them?
The new 08 peterbilts are coming with a similar system. Battry powered heat and ac. batteries are mounted on the deck plate.

The 10 hour operating time is unreallistic. They only recirculate the iar in the truck and don't actually COOL anything. They are designed to maintain the temp. and not lower it. So, with that said, yes they will run for ten hours but really only maintain the temp. for 3-4 hours. Now, the newer ones may be better. The ones I have/had tested were manufactured in late 2005/early 2006.

I would go for Tri Pac apu unit or a rig master if you can come across one at a reasonable price. I saw a TriPac mounted on a Walmart Prostar tractor. Looks like a pretty good unit to me.
