The Midwest runs are like solo lease ops. There are a lot of people who have tried it. There's only a few who keep on doing it. Wouldn't be too bad of a deal if you sleep in your own bed most of the...

They have to relay all the time because they don't know how to dispatch...they're so used to drivers covering their butts on paper logs that now that they're on elogs, the true incompetence of dispatch their is showing.

Let me add to that. There are only a few people willing to be disciplined enough to make it work. If I sit around listening to you "drivers" all I'll hear is there is no money in trucking, I'll never make it past the first year (I have by the way), and every bad thing that happens to me is because of someone else not giving us a fair chance... Anywho, troll away. I'll still have money going in the bank tomorrow.

My apologies. That was a knee jerk response to you digging up an old post completely out of context and out of place here. I do not recommend going lease op to anyone. It's very hard to make work, especially by yourself. We don't get paid anywhere near what we are worth to the company we drive for, and we are considered an easily replaceable line item. That being said, I have stuck with it because it's an obligation I agreed to fulfill. I did not have the luxury of waiting around for the right job or working my way up from a dock position. I have a house, a family, and financial obligations that had to be taken care of so I did the only thing I could think of... I worked! It's good that you have it made where you're at and with your ten years experience, you probably know a million times what I do about driving. You have my respect in that regard. But I spent the first 17 years of my working life climbing into a management chair making less than $35K while my bosses took 7 vacations a year. I got sick of it one day and I decided it's now or never on driving. Sorry if I've partially hijacked your thread Sharpp!! I know this whole thing was to show how you were making it work and I think you're well on you're way to being once of the successful L/O's. Hopefully, I'll be right there with you and yes, maybe one day someone will call me driver. Be safe all!

You might want to make sure you have a spare on a lanyard of some sort that you can wear under your shirt, just in case you get locked out.

If they didn't fail why would they be complaining? So yes, we would be learning what they did to be unsuccessful. Whatever that may be. I.E. - Not doing the homework before signing on the bottom line, picking the wrong company for them, having too heavy a foot, not getting along with dispatcher, etc.
