I totally agree.
I do NOT blame the OP for not wanting to work for 12 cents a mile. The OP would be lucky to pull in the minimum federal wage of $15,080 which averages out to $290 a week, (before taxes). That is very little money for the amount of responsibility that a truck driver has, not to mention that one can barely survive on it.
Sadly, there are many people, many of them immigrants from foreign countries, who will work for very low wages, because they are both desperate for work and they are hungry. Quite often, they have families to feed.
I currently earn $9.30 an hour plus any overtime or commissions that may come my way. I currently have 6 years with my company as a retail clerk. I have been in the workforce for 39 years, (since 1974). To date, this is the highest wage that I have ever earned in my life.
TRUTHFULLY, I have nobody to blame but myself. I stupidly put myself in this situation. Fortunately, I do NOT have a criminal record nor do I have a family to support.
When my MVR gets cleaned up, my health gets better, (blood pressure, sugar levels, weight, etc.), I may be able to go to a truck driving school to learn how to drive a truck, to drive SOLO OTR. By that time, I should also have a ten year work history, providing that I do NOT get laid off or terminated.
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Can't believe what people work for. Our company is hiring. I know a guy that gets around $13 an hour delivering regional. He gets home a couple times a week and weekends. It's hard to get a job here. It's more of a timing thing than anything else. They don't run dac reports. Anyhow, he wasn't interested in being gone for 5 days with the probability of being home through the week periodically for $70,000 plus to start. 100% drop and hook with motel stays. Home every weekend with paid holidays and vacation. I talked to another minimum wage driver after that. He wasn't interested either. I must be missing something.

So, OP, did you understand ANYTHING about trucking or the company you signed up for before applying and accepting a job offer from them..? People are focusing too hard on the 12CPM. That's really lousy pay, but how long were you going to be stuck with that? Was that for team training pay, because that comes out to average training pay. 25 CPM, again, still low, but you knew this... That's your training pay. You get paid less because you are being trained at first, then they pay you less as a solo driver at first because your not running as efficiently and your probably doing a good bit of damage to your transmission/clutch. You only had to wait 3 months to get to 30 CPM, which is average ish. It sounds like your from out west, where CPM pay is lower because the runs are longer.
So, what's the whole story? Did you just apply to the first trucking company you heard of? Felony record, speeding tickets? Why did you decided to work for this pay, then after hitting the road decide that it wasn't enough, when you should have had weeks in CDL school, at the very least, to think about it, compare companies, do research and do the math on what kind of income you could expect?
I don't understand why anyone would congratulate him for this choice... Yeah, kudos for not working for peanuts, but you knew that before taking the job. Now you look like just another wannabe that couldn't make it through his training period when you apply to your next company. There's a good chance you're just gonna be stuck in the same boat due to that decision anyway.double yellow Thanks this. -

I would be VERY interested in $70,000/yr, and all the rest. What company is this? How much experience is needed for that job?
