Most locals in the area knew that those round trip multi stop loads to NYC didn't pay enough. And now they apparently pay less. Nice.......

When your poorly managed company goes under and you don't like the better managed one for whatever reason . There are several options available to you quit and go to another trucking job quit and go to another industry start your own business or trucking company and become the competition this is a free country you can make an almost unlimited amount of choices to better your life if you do not like your circumstances . The founder of jb hunt had an 8 th grade education he started a trucking company and it failed so he started another one.now they have over 12000 trucks there is no reason why someone else can not do the same thing . One thing is for certain whining won't change your situation for the better . I went through a buyout and when that company turned out to be crooked and unsafe to work for I quit and went to jb havnt regreted it they treat me well .

I have to say JB's SMS looks a hell of a lot better than a bunch of other companies I checked out... For me right now ... I've been out of work for 15 months for a number of reasons... none of them bad... my choices... but now I've completed different tasks that I set out to do... JB is willing to put me back in the seat after that time off with no question... and I understand they are in a situation driver wise... but it works to my advantage... I'll make at least $200 a run... I've already done the job, and I've already run these roads... am I excited..? not really... because I know exactly what I'm getting myself into... and I'll maintain the same way I did the first time... When I leave the yard I know there's going to be messed up traffic... idiot drivers... when that happens I sit back and listen to my XM... and drivers ##### on the cb.... I'll relearn my go arounds... I used to know how to get out across Long Island north or south of the LIE... and I'll learn it again. If things are messed up... I already was prepared for it mentally... if everything went smoothly... bonus.. great trip. I sincerely believe that's why I have no tickets and no accidents... that and a bunch of luck... but I'll take it. I was laid off of my last job of 11 years when Saab cars went out of business. Now I need to work while I wait for some of the 'seeds I planted' start to grow... and no it's not an herb farm... not that I wouldn't mind that in the right time and place. For now there are rules that govern me if I choose to be in this industry so I abide by them. More or less....

I worked for Webster back when they opened the Newburgh facility I was in the first group to be hired, I believe it was in 97. It was ok back then, prior to working for Webster I made new and used car deliveries in the 5 boros so a 48' trailer was much better than a 75' stinger steered car hauler but still a pain in the rump! What I don't get about Dave DeSilva losing the contract, he was the son in law of the owner of C&S Grocers so maybe there was some bad family blood? DeSilva owned Webster, Brattleboro Haulage, B&H, and several other companies and we used to interchange drivers and trucks all the time. RavenRyder, remember being told to fill in the trip sheets in pencil so they could "edit" our times if something went wrong with our logs, they good old days!

I am actually thinking of coming back to the east coast from New Mexico, I know I am crazy, but I think I will let JB Hunt pay for my relocation, they are offering some really good options to get me moved back to Pennsylvania or New York.

Well... Quick update... I have now been working out of Windsor Locks for a full 5 months next week... Right from get go I told anybody that would listen that I had no interest in the inner NYC deliveries... I've done no more than 10 in that time... my 1st month and a half I drove exclusively as a shuttle driver out of Hatfield, Ma... I was grossing $1200-$1400 a week... I would make $350 on a sunday (the busiest day..) then they put me on store deliveries... I was able to get myself on mostly Stop & Shops... here's my pay today for last week to silence the naysayers.... they are looking still for drivers... paying a $2000 bonus to you and $2000 to me if you use me as a reference... Nick16 is my alpha code... I'm not going anywhere...

Raven, I didn't see your message until after I spoke to a recruiter, but I told him I had a friend on the account and didn't know his alpha code, so I will try giving them your code when I speak to them next Tuesday. I am scheduled for orientation on 9/16th in EBNJ to work out of Newburgh. They are paying my relocation from New Mexico, but what they pay for relo isn't enough so it may be a deal breaker, I will know by early next week. I will let you know about the referral bonus once I know.

Do they still run some sleepers on the Newburgh account, when I worked for Webster, it was 99 not 97, I had a sleeper and would go out one night then home and repeat 3 times a week. I like the idea of being home daily but hate slip seating so if they had a sleeper I might take that option, the recruiter said he wasn't sure. I know they run sleepers on the Home Depot account in Pa, which is actually closer to my huse but doesn't offer a sign on or relo bonus so I am going to do C&S first, if it doesn't work out they said they will transfer me to another DCS account. I know JB Hunt DCS treated me well when I was with them in 04 so I am hoping it is still a good choice. Thanks

RookieJ, yes it is also good for York, Pa. I would have taken that one, I worked that area when they first opened the York warehouse about 15 years ago but I want to live in NE Pa which is too far from York. I was based out of Newburgh in 1999 and they sent me to your to work with the new hires for a while until they had enough drivers, York service area is really easy driving, no NYC but they do have Philly. York is offering a $7250 relo and sign on bonus right now, at least they were on Friday when I spoke with the recruiter, $2300 for relo and 5,000 signon paid $1,000 at your first dispatch, then $1,000 on 30,60,90,and either 120 or 1 year I can't remember. Newburgh is $2300 relocation and $1500 on first dispatch, $1,000 on 30 days and $500 on 60 I believe.
