Lately I've been spotting a lot of those huge sleeper trucks that cost well over 100k. What in the world do those guys haul? I'm a owner operator now for 17 months and I make really good money but no way I could or would even want to make that payment. Those guys have got to be driving for a lot more than my 2 bucks a mile otherwise why would anyone want to drive all month to cover such a huge payment! I'd really like to know more about them any insight would be greatly appreciated!:
ps I've attached my neighbors tonight 40 miles north of Seattle!
How do I make that kind of money??

Not sure hopefully some one will come along, I know that they probably run some pretty specialized freight, Some of them that is their home, So if you are making a $900.00 Truck payment with a $900.00 House Payment then a $1800.00 truck payment would be the same, I have seen these trucks running in the $240,000's. I hope we get this answered!

the ones ive seen are haulin high dollar cars. gross about 400k a year.

My truck was 40k with a $1200 payment. They are paying at least 3k a month on those!!

A lot of mvoing companies have them too. Down side is the length of the "house" limits where you can go. Then add on top of that the overall length permit needed because some if not most even with a 48' trailer exceed the maximum allowed length.
The majority of the others haul government and specialized contract loads. Basically ####, you don't want to know about also know as don't ask don't tell loads.Htoric2008 Thanks this. -

Lol true didn't really do the math. 240k is 6 times greater than 40k. So they paying 7200 a month!!

Na, they wouldn't be paying that much a month. If they did then the companies that build those sleepers like ICT wouldn't be in business because no one would ever buy them. I've got a friend of mine across town that stretched an 86 Pete and then set a 20' shipping container on it. Sheet paneled the outsides, cut and installed windows and you would never know it was a 20' steel shipping container. Living room with tv and a futon (spelling), bathroom with shower, kitchen sink and counter and a queen size bed in the very back. Did most of the work himself and only cost him somewhere in the ball park of $11-16k total if memory serves me. Been a while since I have talked to him. He built it for his personal rv but has a 5th wheel for a pup trailer if needed but thats about all he can pull because it is limited greatly because he removed one of the drive axles. It can be done on the cheap though.
