Thanks Danny; one more thing I forgot. It was a high value load needing more than just the usual 100K cargo insurance. I don't know what it was, but I couldn't get off the phone fast enough. The agent was annoyed that my MC number wasn't in their system. Now maybe they understand why it never will be.
Another good laugh from TQL

Don't sweat the small stuff. Make lemons outta lemonade. Hahaha!!! These jokers call me all the time and I quote profitable rates which they "uh, uh, uh" insert your favorite broker lie here.... then I get mad and cry pounding my fists in the sand cause they won't pay..
dannythetrucker Thanks this. -
we got the same "high value load" routine from them last week ! I'd never heard that one before, they wanted higher cargo insurance (which I can get on a load by load basis if the money is right) but they also wanted a carrier with 10 trucks or more. And it was also paying total garbage rate, $2/mile to NM or something. high value ? IDK if that is some kind of gimmick or if they actually have customers demanding it.areelius Thanks this.

The Lawsuit is still in appeals with that wreck the O/O had, hauling a CH Load. Not one dime has been turned over..It may be overturned.

I've been getting decent rates from TQL lately. When I don't, then I pass on the load just like any other broker.
Other than HOS, why are you stuck on picking something up that's closer to where you are?
Think about it. If you book the same distance at the same rate, you're coming out ahead by running empty for part of that distance. I'll be happy to run empty for 200 miles to pick up a $2000 load that's going 300 miles (500 miles total) rather than pick up a $2000 load going 500 miles with no deadhead. You come out ahead every time. -
$2000 on a 300 mile load? That's like $6.66 per mile. TQL has never in there history of business paid that rate to anyone.
Plus, why do I need to drive 200 miles to get a load when there is fright in the city I'm in. I don't know but I my self would rather get loaded in the city I'm in than drive almost 4 hours down the road.
-
Remember, you're driving those 200 miles empty for the same money. It's a no-brainer.
Oh, and TQL once paid me $5/mile out of Springfield, MA for a 2 drop dry van load. That included the 150 mile deadhead to upstate NY to pick on a Saturday afternoon. So yes, the loaded cpm was better than $6. The cheap carrier that they booked ended up dropping off the load late Friday, and the load had to move on Saturday. MA was still digging out from the big snowstorm that swept across the country that week, and nobody wanted to move their trucks.
Always keep a positive attitude.Cetane+, rollin coal and truckon Thank this. -
TQL is a Joke right now, I've been calling around since yesterday looking for loads leaving Laredo/ MCallen, tx area going to TN, FL and even Phx. All quotes were less than 1.20 pm reefer freight, I laughed and hung up. Who the heck is pulling this crap for that rate. Even called CH Robinson for the hell of it. Hazmat load to NJ, for $1.76pm. SMH. This is getting out of hand.
I don't wanna sit, but I refuse to pull this crap. Hell at this point what do you lose. I refuse to contribute to the demise of trucking. Something has to give!!!!! -
I believe that its the guys like most who dont know how to negotiate properly who ruin it for the guys who do. If I want to play hard ball with a broker and squeeze him outa every dollar I can on a load, he knows that the next guy will most likely accept it for whatever he decides. It really screws it up for the guys who are business men and not just truck drivers...
BookingYou19 Thanks this.
