Day by day adventures of a new solo OTR driver

I may or may not have changed a thirty minute pre trip to a 15 in order to find safe haven. Sometimes #### happens, and they have to understand. I forget to log off half the morningsI finish my pti and end up having to edit.

 

Pretrip 15 min no more, post trip min 8 min to make them happy. Fuel about 10 min.

Or you could do what I have been doing for 8 years and log a 15 minute pre trip, hopefully fuel at the same time and just log a post trip when you go off duty for the night.
Never heard a word about it.

You are correct, the least amount of time you can log is 5 minutes. So if you are logged anything and only 4 minutes have elapsed, if you switch to a different duty status the entire 4 minutes will carry over to the change. Once it hits 5 minutes it's basically locked into that particular duty status.

And usually, for example, if you have 3 minutes logged into, say, off duty or on duty, and you start driving, by the time it forces you over to driving automatically the extra 2+ minutes will add on and will apply to whatever status you were before. And it's pretty much been stated by every OSR I've talked to that you shouldn't even bother manually changing your status over to driving. Just drive and let it kick you over automatically.
